So what do you think of the new Hotmail?

The massive rollout of the new version of Windows Live Hotmail began in September and, as with any change to a highly popular service, there was much public outcry. iGoogle, Facebook, MySpace, and countless other services have received much backlash as they updated their user interfaces. All of them, however, stood by their changes, and so has Microsoft, while listening selectively to feedback, of course:
The rollout has been slow because we've been reading and listening to your comments. We've read all the comments, followed up with some of you, and changed the service as we went. Since our original announcement, we have read and analyzed several thousand comments, fixed several bugs, and released five updates to the code. So, we want you to know that we're listening, we're making changes, and we want the service to be great.

Q: Can I opt out? Can I get the old version back?
A: We can’t provide two fast, secure, reliable experiences, so we have decided to just keep the new version. However, we will continue to improve the new version, based on many of your comments here, to make it work better for you.

I took a look at it I think its a little better although I no longer use free email accounts.
It's long been becoming a standard practice for webhosts and a lot of vendors to not allow registering or even using free emails due to the fact that they are a major source of spam. There are companies that actuall sell you lots of 100 hotmail addresses used specifically for mail spamming my webhost blocks all mail from hotmail gmail and yahoo i personally do not allow use of them either for signing up of any services that I sell I use to get a lot of fraudulant orders. The days of the use of free email services are slowly coming to an end. most isp's allow you more than enough emails to use if you need more email addresses get a domain. Although I could forsee a comeback when ipv6 makes a full rollout it will be a lot harder for places to spam without being identified

I found that setting up two accounts, signing up to whatever using one and then forwarding your emails to the other account, prevents a LOT of spam. In the 6 months i have been doing this I have received one piece of spam and that is because i used the wrong address to sign up to a site.

Also, the new Hotmail is kool-ish but you have to use IE (cant do anything when i use FF3)

I like to use hotmail and run it through an e-mail program of your choice. I use Windows Live Mail and love it. That way you can still use whatever browser you wish. I would try Google Chrome. I can't use anything else now.

Lets see, just to keep on good terms with the MS guys i'd say, I wish i could use the older version, cuz very simply the newer version rocket boosts Hotmail out of the competition.....in the opposite direction!

I'm stuck with a nearly antique 450 mhz machine at work and my only online access there is phone modem that usually is only able to connect at 26,400.

Hotmail works well on it and I think is faster than before with the inboxlight.
I use Live Mail here at home on my Vista machine and it works well for me also.

I like Hotmail enough that I moved my personal email domain over to Hotmail via Domain services. I rarely get spam on any of my three Hotmail accounts.

Just wish it would work with Chrome like it used to :/
