Sleep/Keyboard problem

First of all it should be understood that I do not have any problem putting the computer to sleep or hibernate, that area is working just fine. Also I do not have any problem waking up from sleep, just tap any key and it wakes up just fine and all functions run Ok including the mouse. The main issue is that the keyboard is dead (no lights) and it is impossible to type any characters. The only way I have found to bring it back to life is to 1. Restart the computer or 2. Hit the start button > click the "Switch User" button and finally hit "Enter" or any other key. After that all is back to normal. Very strange that even though the keyboard is dead,it will activate the wake up function, but it stays dead itself.
Hibernate works just like it is intended to, no issue there.

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem of Bergmoser. I have a HP laptop, and when I close the screen lid it goes normally to sleep mode. The problem appears after I open the lid to re-start and the keyboard is dead... I have a password to enter in my area, so I use the keyboard on screen to enter but sometimes it works and sometimes I need to restart the PC. It appears that this is not a problem of the hardware...

You could use Ardneh suggestion if you want but it might be better to get a new keyboard as you can get a nice keyboard for cheap now. Maybe treating yourself to a nice new one might be a idea :)
