I recently bought a Canon Rebel xti, and also a 2GB memory card along with it. I also got a Digital Concepts 21 in 1 card reader. When i plug in the card to the reader an error pops up saying the file doesn't have a program associated to it and i need to create one in the set associations control panel. I know where the set associations panel is, but i don't know how to actually associate a program to the reader. Help?

What are the files on the card?

Hello Kafrine, and welcome to Vista Forums.

Double check to see if Windows Media Player (WMP) and Windows Photo Gallery (WPG) are both set as Default Programs with all of their associations set to them as well. It may be trying to load one of them, most likely WPG, to display the pictures.

Do you have any problems when double clicking on any other picture files to have them open with WPG?

Hope this helps,
Shawn

I set both to the default programs and then plugged in my card reader and the set association window still popped up. Maybe im missing some sort of software that goes with the card reader itself? i've never had problems with other cards or uploading any other pictures wit hmy other digital camera because i could just plug those right into the usb. but with this camera i cant do that. should i maybe get a different card reader? i myself didnt purchase this one i received it as a gift.

Yeah, you should check to see if you may have a driver and/or software disk that came with the card reader to install. You might test the memory card on a friends computer to see if it can read it without any problems to see if it that may be the problem.
