safe to delete xxxxxxx.tmp.cvr files?

On my Vista system under the Users\userid\AppData\Local\Temp folder there are hundreds of xxxxx.tmp.cvr and xxxx.tmp files. Can anyone explain how these files are created and is it safe to delete them? Thanks in advance......:D

I'm getting those here, and Outlook 2007 is creating them. There is another temp file created at the same time that is also not deleted, nnnnnnnn.od. It looks like Office Diagnostics is the culprit, haven't found a way to prevent them from showing up in the first place.

Thanks for the info & help guys. Ran CCleaner & got rid of a lot of junk - to bad the applications don't cleanup when they're done - oh well. Thanks again.
