Red Email Notices

Hi Bob

Do you know where they came from if it is a major corporation and some just for the heck of it they can send out things to you that they might have sent it to you using urgent mail. Did it look something like this but only in red. Let me know please.

No the email below is telling me that one of the people I sent an email to is not at the address I used. The Person is not Grant MacDonald. It is unrelated to the problem.
Bob S

I am running out of ideas.

1. You do know who Grant MacDonald is. Yes ?

2. Go to your webmail site > logon to your account > can you find and OPEN Grant MacDonald's mail ? > or is it in Junk Mail folder ?

My Computer

Yes I know Grant MacDonald. I sent him an email. He was responding and the 'red email' was his response. These were the first emails Grant and I had ever sent to each other.

The other person that I occasionally get 'red emails' from is my wife's cousin and we trade emails often. His email address is in my address book. Most of his emails come through without a problem, but occasionally when he forwards something to me the emails are 'red'.

Surely there must be some significance for the 'red email notices'.

You gave up on me. As you can see from response (#14) the 'security symbol' in front of the email message is a MS security symbol. It is obviously a warning. Surely if it appears under certain conditions, somewhere there must be info about it occurence.

Hi Bob

Do this for me and lets see what is going on with the red email.

1. Right click on the red email...
2. Left click on Properties...
3. At the top of the box that will come up then click Details.

This will give all the information on who sent it and how, when you get this info copy it and upload it to us. To do so follow this ok.

1. Save what I ask you to do and save it to your documents...
2. Then sign in here at the forum and post it here.
3. When you open the box to give us a message, look at the top of that box and to the right of the white face you will see a paperclip.
4. Click the paperclip...
5. A browers box will open up to your left side of the screen.
5. The first browes box you see click it and it will open the box where your documents are.
6. Browes your saved documents untill you find what I asked you to save.
7. Double click the saved file and it will upload it automatically, when that is done on the right of the browes box it will say upload, click upload the close that box and we will get your file.

Bob I know this is a little long but it is simple to do just go slow and you will do it just fine. When you send us that file it will give a ton of information but these you have to read backwards to understand them. We will be able to tell you a lot with this file.

Sorry for the delay, I have been quite busy.
Another red tagged email has appeared in my INBOX. It comes from my wife's cousin. Not all emails from him are tagged. I tried to follow your instructions but got stymied when I tried to save it to my documents. I tried to 'copy and paste' it as I did not know any other way to save it to documents. I seemed to be able to copy but I could not paste it into documents. Is there another way to get the information into documents?

Also, with the other tagged message in my inbox [which I copied and included in a previous message (#14) ], I could not not get to first base with your instructions. I right clicked on the red email and then left clicked on properties. At this point a window opened that said, ' The properties of this email could not be displayed. An error has occurred.'

The info below is the 'details' for the latest red email notice that I received. As I said before not all emails from this sender are red flagged.

The other red flagged email that I was previously talking about cannot be copied as I pointed out in my previous email.

Hey Bob, little late in the game... But that symbol usually meeans the email has been block for safety. Mail thinks its a phishimg scam, or other junk email, so your mail program deleted it right away.

Is the sending email something unique, like a rogers or sympatico address? or is it a odd generic one?

You could add the persons email address to your safe list and see what happens..

Try that, its nothing wrong with your computer i don't think, but it could be an issue with theirs.

Stay cool, its gonna b another hot one today.

There is no consistency! I do get emails that have a bar across the top of the message window which implies that phishing is possible. The emails that we are discussing with 'red warning' did not have the 'phishing bar' and that is why I thought there was another problem. My wife's cousin is on our safe list and occasionally his emails are 'red tagged'.

I am convinced that the problem does not lie within my computer but with the sending computer or the email that is being sent Frequently, but not always, the 'red tagged' emails are forwarding some photos or humour. My inclinaation was to tell the person who sent the 'red tagged' email that their email was contaminated. It would have been good to know how it was contaminated.

Hi Bob

If you want to see what a email is all about this is how you do it.

1. Right click on the email it's self...
2. Click Properties...
3. Click the details tab...
4. Right click and then select all...
5. Right click copy.
6. save it to your Microsoft word...
7 then upload it to me here at this thread...

That's all you have to do...

I was ready to put this to bed but ... a friend forwarded an email to me today and it was 'red flagged'. All but one of the flagged emails that I have received have come from him. Emails that he composes are never flagged. Emails that he forwards are frequently, but not always, flagged. The email that I received today did have the warning, ' Windows Mail thinks this message is suspicious and has blocked it. Images and links have been blocked for your safety. If you think this email is not fraudulent use the unblock button to access it.'

I unblocked the email and then I clicked properties and details and studied the information. I did not learn much but I cleaned up some of the post and pre message garbage that I saw in the details. I sent it to myself and it was flagged and went into my Junk Mail folder

Obviously there is something within these emails that upsets the virus, etc. scanners and delegates them to the Junk folder and flags the message. Is it a virus, worm or what?

My Computer

Alot of time, mail looks at the sender address, recipients list and content style, and decides what to do.
