I am not baller. I just got lucky and somehow ended up with two 5950X's for free. This would be extremely goofy like 5950X and GTX 970 had that not happened.

Ran the Win64 version. Unchecky said it was unwanted program but I bypassed that. It wouldn't install because it couldn't find MSVCP140.dll. On second try, same thing.

Edit: it did install but wouldn't run because of the missing file. As noted below, in Post 6, it's now running.

I need to correct what I said- the browser "did install" but wouldn't "run" because of the missing file. Sorry about that.
I installed the vc++ x64 version which installed v2015 through v2022, and Firefox runs.

r3dfox is release branch Firefox made to work on Windows Vista, 7, and 8. Also with limited compatibility for XP using One Core API.

Main download: Releases · Eclipse-Community/r3dfox

Alternative download: r3dfox - Modern Firefox for Windows 7 - Browse Files at SourceForge.net

If you run into any bugs or issues, please report it on GitHub under the issues tab. I am more likely to get to it and remember to fix it if it's there. If you don't have a GitHub account, here is fine too though.

I've have it running for the last week, although I've been using supermium as my default. All of sudden last night, I got a couple messages in Chinese that caused the shortcut to r3d to be moved. Don't know where it went. I reinstalled but, in Control Panel, Programs....... it shows as a white folder and I don't see a .exe in the Eclipse folder for starting it. Perhaps you can tell me what the name of the .exe file is so I can do a search.

That is weird, maybe you have some sort of malware? I'm not sure why that would happen.

The browser should be in C:\Program Files\Eclipse Community\r3dfox

Hi wither 3:

I wouldn't be surprised to learn this was caused by some remnant of your 360 Chrome browser (developed by the Chinese company Qihoo) that was never cleaned off your system properly - recall my 14-May-2024 reply to you in locoeng's What browser do you use?. You've mentioned seeing odd Chinese-language pop-up dialog boxs before, and perhaps there's some orphaned 360 Chrome registry entry or task that complains if you try to install another browser or change your default browser.

Per K4sum1's post # 9, I believe the excutable in C:\Program Files\Eclipse Community\r3dfox is named r3dfox.exe.

Thanks K4sum1 and Imacri- The file isn't there. The only r3dfox files I could find are r3dfox.exe.xxxx.dmp. The xxxx are two different series of numbers. The .dmp files are blank when opened with bluescreenview. I also don't understand why they would be .dmp files. If I shorten the names of the first .dmp file in either series to r3dfox.exe and try to run it, it says the program is not compatible and to find out whether you need x32 or x64 and then go to the software developer.

In the r3dfox folder, there is a folder called Removed Files. The only thing in there is "Chrome.manifest."

I agree with Imacri that this is being caused by the Safe....................... program associated with 360Chrome. I suspect I should have uninstalled it before I uninstalled 360Chrome. Not ready to reinstall 360 Chrome to find out.

Hi wither 3:

NirSoft's BlueScreenView is used to analyze minidump files created in the protected system folder at C:\Windows\Minidump during a "Blue Screen of Death" (BSOD) crash of your Windows operating system. It does not analyze dump files created during the crash of third-party applications.

If your r3dfox.exe crash generated a Windows Error Reporting (WER) component then look in your Event Viewer (EventType = APPCRASH) or use NirSoft's AppCrashView to see the details of each application crash logged in your Event Viewer.

You can view submitted crash reports generated by modern Firefox browsers by launching the browser and entering about:crash in the address bar. For example, when I launch FF v129.0.1 on my Win 10 machine and go to about:crash I can see a link there to view a crash report at dd6830d4-a6eb-479a-ae35-617970240818 [@mozilla::PresShell::FreeByObjectID] that was submitted for analysis after my FF 126.0.1 browser stopped working on 01-Jun 2024. However, I have no idea if crash reports are logged in r3dfox at about:crash or how you could even view them if your r3dfox installation files at C:\Program Files\Eclipse Community\r3dfox have been damaged and you cannot launch r3dfox.

I was looking in the event viewer and this warning (it's not the whole thing) shows what 360Safe........ did on the day r3dfirefox got screwed up-

I don't know what it means by Volume 4 but it appears to mean my C: drive. Haven't had time to pursue it further.

I have managed to delete 360Chrome by editing the registry. However, there is a companion program 360Safe which I can't uninstall because I don't have permission. When I click on the properties of the uninstall file, every option has full control, etc. ....

.... I agree with Imacri that this is being caused by the Safe....................... program associated with 360Chrome. I suspect I should have uninstalled it before I uninstalled 360Chrome. Not ready to reinstall 360 Chrome to find out.

Hi wither 3:

According to your 13-May-2024 post in locoeng's What browser do you use? you did not uninstall 360 Chrome with the built-in uninstaller as instructed in smallpotato000's May 2022 post <here> in the reddit r/WindowsVista community. Instead, you deleted folders and registry entries associated with 360 Chrome to try and remove this browser from your system.

Assuming your 360 Safe module was installed along with your 360 Chrome browser (i.e., you haven't installed any other Qihoo 360 products like 360 Total Security) and it is now causing problems with r3dfox I'd advise you ask for help removing the final remnants of 360 Chrome in a separate topic so you don't take this thread by K4sum1 completely off-topic. Windows 2000's Extreme Explorer 360 Chromium 78-86 General Discussion in the Browsers Working on Older NT-Family OSes board of the MSFN forum might be a good place to start .
