On second thought.
Put CD in Computer.
Then go to my computer icon on destop (or type comptuer in search by start button)
Then click, the drives should show. Do you see your CD drive?
If yes click on it. If no post.

I went to Services and that Shell thing was disabled so I set it to auto. After I did that I put a CD in the drawer no window popped up but I was able to click on it in "Computer" and a box opened allowing me to format.

However, why is Macrium showing 16 bit/FATS in the screenshot attached? I have 32 bit and NTFS, or whatever you call it.

Cancel out and start over. I think when the choice was made you chose Linux instead of Windows.

After reading this I decided to look up the permissions of that key on my system and the administrators group is the owner. As much as I really love fiddling with the registry I especially love registry permissions.:sarc: I really don't want to mess with that so is it a really big security risk?

NO, I chose Windows. But the next time I opened Macrium it showed correctly over in that area.

I "think" I got the WinPE disk created, but I was going to make a Linux too as I thought I read that it doesn't hurt to have both. I absolutely am dumbfounded. I don't care what I put in the draw -- a CD-R or a CD-RW -- It starts running and then the drawer pops open and it tells me I don't have the correct media and to insert a "rewritable" CD in the drawer. But like I said, no matter which one I use, it does not work.

OK
It comes back to me now
When you see this
bring down the menu and create an ISO rather than the CD
I think there is bug in the program.

I don't think this worked. It only took a few seconds and when done I went to Computer and when I clicked on the item on the disk (named Rescue) this IsoBuster window opened up.

This CD thing is really driving me nuts. I created ANOTHER WinPE backup from the file that was on my desktop KB3AIK_EN and used Roxio and it seemed to go fine.

Seems funny they would have this kind of glitch in their program (Macrium) and not have it fixed by now.

I need to use these WinPE rescue disks and see if they work, so if you want to post instructions that would be great. But I have to leave off for tonight and probably won't get back to this until Saturday.

Thanks for all the help you've given me so far. Hope you have the patience to stick with me. :)

Ill be here for you
I pulled down the menu to see ISo
Then with ImgBrn I made the CD
Just now to be sure, I booted from the CD and it worked like a charm
Are you sure that your CD burn software is configued to handle ISO?

The first thing you want to do is to verify the ISO image on the CD.

Yes, I'm pretty sure.

How did you make the CD with ImgBurn? I can't see anywhere on the Macrium Media Wizard window to choose an option what you want to use. I select Linux and then Next and then pull down the menu to select ISO. Where or how are you able to make the selection to use ImgBurn? If you can make it with ImgBurn then I should be able to do so with Roxio, if I just knew how to choose it.

Another thing I wanted to say is that my cd has nearly 700 MG space. This Rescue file that was created was only 12.8 MG but it shows that the entire disk was used and there is 0 left.

Something is screwy here.

I have imgbrn set up as my default.
At the end I verified the CD in Imgbrn
Now thinking back, I made Macrium download the ISO to a file. Then I instructed ImgBrn to burn it to a CD. That was that. Then on ImgBrn I selected Verifiy and a burned at a very slow speed.
Just follow the instructions from Macrium
Cant answer about the Disc bug. But it started since the next to last update about 2 weeks ago.
But do what you think is right and then test it. Be sure it boots from computer and you see the images that you made.
We can do it over if not right.

If you used a CD-R (which can only be written to once) then that's normal.

Hello - I'm back! I did run a backup with Macrium. Does Macrium include the First Hard Disk Track and Master Boot Record in the backup like Paragon does? (see screenshot) Not that I understand what that means but want to ask anyway. There's a window that pops up (Backup Save Options), and I'd like to ask about that second box, the XML Definition File. Does that mean that the next time you want to do a backup all you need to do is click on that file? That's what I thought I read, but I also thought I read that this feature is available only with the paid version so I'm wondering why I was even able to select it. Now I need to test those CD's I made using the WinPE, and I'm really fearful of doing it. Don't I have to go into the Boot file and make a change to boot from CD? Are there any special instructions I need to know, please?

Just back up your C drive and if a separate drive the boot drive. If there is one its usually small about 100mb
It gives you a choice of which drives to back up
Forget those files, put the back up on an external hard drive and back up from there.
The XL files will not help if you cant boot.
Turn off the computer and boot from the CD, make sure your external is on.
It will go as far as giving you a choice. You dont have to select to back up.
That is how it works for me. I will not guarantee anything though. I am not there and dont know what you actually did.
