Ya Mrneeds, I'm the same way. when I first got my 750i, and GTX 260. I said I'd NEVER go SLI.. didn't need it. but surely i went ahead and did it eventually. and now I've been seeing all these amazing water cooling systems over at a Enthusaists forum I frequent. and I just had to give it a try.. so far I'm loving it.

I've got my first up and running picture tonight for you guys. lol sorry Skunk, it was a lot of work, and a lot of leak testing before throwing my stuff back in. but it's all gravy now, and she's up and running strong.

I'll post more pictures tomorrow. as I'm ready for bed right now, but Here's a complete shot of the overall build, with the new black paint, and everything inside. I tried to keep it as clean as possible, with no wires sticking everywhere up front. I did ok I think.. but could be better. Here's some shots.
CompleteLoop-1.jpg

and this is the emblem on my Radiator. I just had to take a picture of it. It's a Teaser for you guys. but I promise more will come tomorrow. if you wanna see specific shots just ask.
FeserRad.jpg

oh and skunk, yea I can't wait to try and see what type of overclocks I can get with this beast.. I'm not running my usual 24/7 clock of 4.0 Ghz with 1.304v and my idle temps are 26c, and loads are 38c.. Load temp's of 38c.. I'm liking that.

so soon I'll be passing my 4.3 Ghz record. :) I hope!

that is SEXY mate........:D

i wouldn't mind creating a loop just for the CPU, the 260s run practically silent while idle so i wouldn't bother with them...(they do look sweet in there :p)

im not up on WC components, but is there no RAM blocks available, they would really come in handy..??

Yea, there are RAM blocks you can get, but the Dom's are fairly cool. and yea I see no need for GPU's to be WC for now, maybe later, but I do want to water cool my NB and SB.. as the NB fan blows right onto my top GPU. it makes it around 6-8c hotter than the card below it.

thanks guys, yes I'm lovin it so far. started her up this morning at 24 and 25c.....

People have been asking me how I mounted the RAD so nicely on the top like in that last picture. So here's a few for ya.

I still needed to get a few more screws for the top. but I've now finished that and it's completely finished. :)

DSC_0966.jpg

See the vent on the right, thats where the other screws are and 3rd fan. screws go through that top thing..

my new amazing sounding headphones.... but look at the top of case. Close-up of vent

DSC_0971.jpg

Here is a top view from back to front of the screw holes. I'll be screwing them all in tonight. but look at the top of it. See inside the vent there is the same holes the entire top has. So it's got plenty of airflow.. Plenty.

doesnt really matter what manufacturers you go with as long as the clock speeds are similar, could be that the one he wanted (evga) may have been in stock but only one was there, so he had to go with one with similar specs(msi). only the G man can answer this :p

I knew the cards specs are all that mattered to work, just curious what his reasons were to go with different mfgr's

Also, I thought I saw a link somewhere about this case or a version of it that showed it has a removable MB tray..

I do have 3 120's on the RAD. the Third one is half visible, and half under that vent thing in the last picture. that's the top where there is a cup holder/or flash drive holder area. and a fillport. and the I/O ports. and it has that vent on the back for air to get in. So yes I have three of the 120's.

as for the SLI. I originally was not planning on running SLI. I had the eVGA first. as I've always been a eVGA fan. and then I got a solid trade for another one. To be honest I should have actually got a new Core 216 Card. as long as it was 65nm the Core 216 would work with the normal original 65nm 192 Stream processor cards. but I didn't want to worry about problems. even though everyone said it was ok. so I went ahead and got the regular 192 SP 260. and the only one I could find that was not $300 dollars was the MSI. and I traded a friend it for my old 22" Monitor that I HATED anyways. and he had never used the MSI. it was NIB. When the Core 216 first came out, the 55nm at least. the old 65nm 192 cards went up in price for some reason. and I wasn't about to pay $289.99 for a eVGA. when I could get the MSI for $170 or so.. as that's what my monitor was worth.

However, the MSI 260 is the stock card.. yet it's clocks are not stock, they are all tweaked. I only noticed this a few days ago, and that might be affecting performance. it runs at 620, instead of 576 Mhz, and the shaders are highly overclocked. but it's supposed to be the stock card. so Idk. the box and card say stock. so it was just a different Bios on the card I'm guessing.

either way they still work great, but I wish I had got the 216 when I got my second card, cuz then I could have traded or sold my other 260 and upgraded to another 216. and have even better performance. but it's ok.

Gunther,

Someone pointed me over here to this thread. Nice looking rig.

I just bought a Core i7 965 RR CPU and am looking to bump my performance up a bit - probably not going too crazy with OCing and thus probably not going with water (although it has crossed my mind more than once). I will *possibly* keep the TT Armour I have now, and add mobo, RAM and perhaps a new drive or two (depending upon whether I get an SSD or not) but I like what you're doing - and it is giving me ideas for *next year's* upgrades to the Core i7.

I updated the pics of my machine over at Picasa Web Albums - johnlgalt - The Beast - shows the new dual monitors, some pics of the gaming performance I sorta had with the 8800GTS and, of course, the dual 260s. Did I ever tell you that the second 260 I got from eVGA, although claiming to be a stock 192 bit 260 was in fact clocked at SSC values?

Anyhoo, those are not going anywhere - but I know if I got H2O then I'd have to get blocks for those puppies as well - it'd not be fair to cool the system and *not* cool the GAs, now would it? :p

If I do go to H2O I'll be knocking on your PM door and / or this thread for some advice. I like the layout of the HAF a lot, but the above link for the ATCS 840 seems more fun - if only because it has the removable tray :p

Actually, I do, although the new 24inchers are calling my name sometime this summer - 20000:1 CR and <5 ms response, - I got these at a nice bargain (almost 9 months ago at roughly $187 ea shipped) and I am proud to say that I have not a single dead pixel. Not sure how the rest of the world has found these to work, but personally, I am very happy with them.

Update on my build - I am counting out H2O right now - eVGA has a new Classified version of their board that is making its debut very very soon (wink wink) and I don't think my setup is very conducive to going to H2O *effectively* - I'd have to get superior components and perform a case mod or 2.

I think the easier solution is for me to look at a CM case (ATSC 840 or Cosmos S) for ease of management when I do decide to go H2O.

So, that leaves me with a little bit of cash for a (possibly?) better mobo than I originally planned.

Still keeping my fingers crossed that NewEgg lets me have the Kingston for $245 a set...doubtful, but hoping.

Thanks John.. Yea it has been a blast, and I love it. I had the H20 cross my mind time, and time again. and I just kept saying no to myself, or thinking it was crazy, or to extreme. (Or that when a girls see's it. I'm for sure not getting laid). haha. but after all. I did it. and i LOVE IT.

It is just sweet, it impresses everyone that comes over, if the machine didn't already. and it's just cool man. like pimpin cool, and temp cool. :) my Quad runs 4.0 Ghz at 26c.. are you kidding. lol and it reaches a full load temp of 38c. thats what my Q6700 idled at.

Yea I remember you getting the SLI 260's. but did you know that I got a second also until now?? and I knew about the dual monitors also. common now john. I've not been gone that long! did you see I got rid of my 22's and went for the Samsung T240. it's an amazing monitor. it's better than my brother's 22 HP, and Acer. and both of my Samsung 22's.. it's there TOC line. touch of color. and it's true. it's simply the best monitor I've ever had.

(and did I tell anyone here yet that I'm getting a second 24 :):):) I had to, I loved duallies) Yup. I'm doing it. I said it here first.

the Cooler Master HAF 932 is not the best looking case ever, I personally think it's sort of ugly. but it's the performance it's all about. I mean comon. Look at that. I'm able to fit ALL that stuff in there withough breaking a sweat, and if you don't want to use there AMAZINGLY convienent pre drilled holes on top to mount a dual, or triple Rad for H20, then you can leave there stock 230mm 110 CFM fan up top that is dead silent!! it's a great case man. I highly recommend it. the 840 is ok, but it's older, and cable management sucks on it. and the Cosmo's is ok, but it's to thin, and you can't use your Tuniq, or a TRUE and still have side fans, they don't fit. so that sucks. but they are nice cases for water also.

oh and the eVGA classified is going to be the $#!T. it's just hands down the best motherboard ever made. never before can someone run triple SLI, and a 4th card for Physx. or a 5th card for sound. if you get triple SLI, you have to give up your great sounding sound card, but not anymore with classified. (but at a high price)

So you spend the dough and got the i7 965 Extreme huh.. thats crazy. shoulda just got the 940. it will do everything the 965 will do. the Xtreme chips are only for xtreme overclockers on water, or Nitrogen.. if you're not planning on doing to much overclocking. might as well have got the 920. (they aren't like your Q6600 that some aren't good overclockers) with a good cooler, any 920 can hit 4.0 Ghz, and any 940 can do ever higher. they overclock very well.

you can do 4.0 Ghz with EASE on that 965, but summer time comes the D0 stepping i7 975.. it will rock.

Water-cooling is actually not as hard as it sounds, and it is safer than you'd think also.. as long as you use distilled water, it's free of minerals and junk, it's not very conductive like tap water, and little leaks are not killers!

sorry. that was a huge message, but I had a lot to say Sir!

hahahaha...

Get the 940 instead of the 965.. there's no reason for the 965 unless you going for 4.5 Ghz! put that money for a 295 or something.

edit* you saw my final picture right.. look how natural and meant to be there that Triple Radiator looks up top. it's just so clean. that is thanks to some Pre drilled holes that i Thank Cooler Master for... as it woulda been hard without them. not to mention this case has some of the best cable management cutout's to date. it went just so well. I loved it. I'd get one man.

Dell's 23" 80000:1 2ms monitor is at the top of my list still :P

Looks amazing, Gunther. Nice and clean inside and all the components stand out and and contrast well now the inside is sprayed black. Wish I could get all my cables behind the motherboard tray, but the CPU power cable is too short on the Thermaltake PSU to reach to the top.
