Problems with 64Bit.....?

PSP 9, PSP Photo X 2, Cerous ThumbsPlus 7, SoundM ADI1988 Audio, Realtek RTLO8110SC LAN Driver, Duplicate File Remover, Netcom3, Recover Files Vista Manager. TechSat DVB Card, Core Temperture, Spybot Search & Distroy, WinCleaner OneClick, DVD Shrink (have not tried the lastest version), Max Registry Cleaner, TweekVista, Ashampoo Win Optimizer, Spyware Doctor, Zone Alarm Firewall (good free replacement is VistaFirewallControl), TweekNow Registry Cleaner. I found that Microsoft Office 2003 did not run correctly and would not update. I could carry on, but this gives you an idea.

Thank you that is great news. I will download it tomorrow. Seems strange that some programmes are OK on some PC's but not on others, it is something I have never come across before.

I would get all the latest BIOS, firmware, and drivers for Vista x64 before hand. This includes chipset inf patches for your motherboard, and the latest BIOS and drivers for SATA RAID.

Don't overclock on the base install. If you don't have Vista x64 SP1, install SP1 right after the base OS. Use matching sticks of RAM for better results. Mixing RAM can cause issues.

Any hardware without Vista drivers, remove before installing Vista. Find the drivers first. I usually make a CD with everything on it.

I thought Vista Home had three installs for a home owner unlike the other versions. It was like Microsof Office 2007 Home and Student version. With activation, I did not think it was possible to activate illegally anymore?

I have my full copy of Vista x64 Ultimate retail waiting at home. It arrived.

DVD shrink works on Vista 64 PRO huh.. thats totally great news..

cuz I use it very very often. I'd be upset if that wont work...

as for the rest.. I got my Tuniq Tower cooler today. so now I can take the Video card out of the current machine i have and setup the OS.. I could do it, just haven't got to it yet.. I'm taking my sweet time. cuz I wanna get RAM, and a new GFX card before I do much.. so I see the full potential of my Q6700

Well I'm actually about to do it today.. I haven't done it yet.. lol. I got myself a 8800 GTS OC Edition last night.. and knew i was giong to get one. so I wanted for that before doing install.

So I'm plannin on doing it tonight.. question tho for anyone who could help.

When doing a new build, and loading OS for First time.. what should be plugged into the First or Master SATA port.. the HD, or the DVD drive.. they are both SATA. what one should be in the first SATA port.. and also, when in bios for first time.. I change the settings to load from the DVD drive so it will load my Vista OS disk.. so in the Bios should the DVD drive be set to the First thing to load.. as the Master. of do i set the HD first... I just don't member. someone please let me kno I'd really appreciate it..

Thanks!

Oh OK.. Cool, Thanks for your Help.. ya Teflon Brain.. haha I like that. Thats Commical. I've never heard that one before... Nothing Sticks To Teflon.. LMAO.

So if I don't have a Floppy drive.A.. then I should just do the DVD Drive First.. THEN the HD.. Right. and whats the Network Drive Boot Option.. I'm using a Wireless Card. that have something to do with that??

Also I see you have G15.. did it wok when trying to install new OS. if the HD doesn't have it's drivers.. will you still be able to use it.. Can I use my new G11 when I start install. or will it not work yet.. if not it's ok. I have my old one.. and as for the time thing. I'm sure I'll be fine.. if not. around 12 or 1 AM where I am.. some people from Australia are always Up. I'm on there forum all the time. They can help me.. so thanks for the info but I'll be ok in that area..

Hopefully everything goes ok. I have a spare PC I can use other than the ones in my room.. I'm not going to start install for a while. I'm going to eat dinner first.. but thanks for the info. let me kno about keyboard also if you would please.. Thanks!

Also ur saying the 790 it doesn't matter what SATA port.. good then I'm ok.

Thanks for NOTHING Dmex lol. I already purchased and installed FEAR. Why didn't you tell me sooner lol? I had a heck of a time installing it til I stumbled across the solution then it was easy. Well At least I got it for like 10 bucks with all both expansion packs so I don't feel so raped.............

Gunther, your g15 will work as a normal keyboard until you use the installation disk and/or the driver upgrade from logitech. I did so many installs lol that I don't quite remember what I did with my g15. I THINK the last time I installed VISTA and my g15 I didn't do the disk, I just downloaded the latest drivers and updates from the logitech site but don't take that as gospel, I really don't remember. One thing I DO know though is that VISTA will see and recognize the G15 as a "generic usb keyboard" until you install the software. Now that I think more upon it, I'm pretty sure that I used the download from logitech rather than the installation disk the last time I did it. How is THAT for a Teflon brain answer lol.

It's free.. but only the multiplayer part.. not the other..

and I have the G11.. not the 15. and when I plugged it into my current machine.. it didn't work at all until the drivers finished installing. Vista called it Generic USB keyboard then once it finished it said G11.. and I ddin't install from logitech. I just let vista install the drivers automatically like it always does.. and that worked Great.. I might need there software to set the G keys tho... not sure.

but ya, it didn't work til all were downloaded.. I'll try it. if not I'll just use the old one..

ok tonight I'll do my OS install

OK, OS install is basically finished.. one question tho.

OK.. so settings are liked you said.. Floppy, then CD Drive, then HD
I did everything right, no problems. install did everything. went through all the steps. Now Here's my question.

It went through the main steps during install.. then when it did Updates.. it restarted.. loaded from Disk Again.. and went to last step.. Completing Installation.. Then it Restarted Again.. so from here WHAT do I do.

It just restarted after Completing Installation. Now I'm at the Press F1 to continue, since no floppy is in.. If I hit continue it will load from the Disk again.. but it already said completing Installation.. Should I load from the Disk anyways??

Or should I take the Disk out now, and then hit Continue???

LET me kno ASAP as I'm right here waiting

EDIT:

Nevermind...

Finished.. already chose name and all that Jazz.. Now it's checking my computers Performance.. Thanks for your help dudes.. everyone!

I'll post back in a bit

OK. everything is going good so far,

64bit works fine, I downloaded all my mobo and GFX drivers..

got Speedfan, CPUID, CoreTemp, RivaTuner, and 3Dmark06..

so far it's all good. My CPU temps are OK. considering I have the Tuniq Tower cooler. I'm missing 2 main input fans, so those will help the temps go lower also.. but for now Here's a little Screen shot of the Coretemp showing them..

Click Image to make it Bigger

one question bubba.. when PC boots it stops cuz doesn't detect a floppy drive.. so should I change the 1st boot to the CD/DVD drive, and second boot to the Hd.. and completely get rid of floppy from the list.. afterall i dont have one. that would make it boot without me having to hit F1 to continue right..?

anything else I should do. I'll get more pics soon

Boot order may not affect the system trying to *find* a floppy drive - if you have the floppy set to a particular drive and it is not actually installed, you may get this 'error' even if you change the boot order.

Older BIOSs also used to allow you to set whether the BIOS would actually *check* for the presence of a floppy drive, but newer BIOSs should (almost always) have the option of simply setting the floppy drive to "not installed" or "not applicable" or whatever the option allowed under floppy drives. Then it will not try to search for the floppy in the first place.

I also, as a rule, disable the FDC since I do not use it at all - but that is just me :P
