Hi Everyone, Now we Finally have a Column for Overclockers, and cooling and such, I figured we need a thread just like some of the others we have. Like These.

http://www.vistax64.com/general-discussion/166472-post-your-desktops.html
http://www.vistax64.com/general-discussion/110939-show-us-your-rig.html

If your an Enthusiasts, or just someone that likes getting the Max possible out of your machine, you've came to the right place. Post Your Overclocking results of your CPU, Graphics card, RAM. Or your CPU-Z, or GPU-Z Screen shots. Post it here for the rest to see, Admire, wish they could do, and whatever else. So feel free to share with everyone your 3DMark Scores, or just Screen shots of your Overclocks.

I'll go First. Here's my Latest 3DMark06 Score with an Oc'd Q6700 CPU, an OC'd eVGA GTX 260 GFX Card, and my RAM slightly Tweaked.

http://tinyurl.com/3DMark06

Everyone else please do the same, and share what you got, and have done!

got 3.0 Ghz from my Q6600 (not keen on taking it higher till i get better cooling)

and my GFX is at core 850Mhz and Memory 1301Mhz not bad for a rookie OC

my ram i'm not touching until i learn more about which will be very soon i installed a fan directly over them so they never get hot

Wait.. I thought you had 3 of those 9800GTX cards. or did you sell one and only have 2 now.

Thats not bad at all. I was confused at first, then realized you had SLI.

Not to Rain on your Parade of new High score. but It's nice to know that my Single card got that score.. your only like 50-60 points ahead of my 17,061
but then again. you could Oc that CPU much higher. if you went to 3.6 like me. your score would be close to 18k I'm guessin. or more.

This is mine, I don't think it is to bad considering only having an old e6420 and a mid range card. Would like to get a better score on 3dmarks06, maybe if I add another 4 gig of ram, a GTX280 and a quad I would get some better results :sarc:. My CPU is at the maximum stable clock that I can achieve on this set up using a ASUS P5K SE mother board.

!!holy Vcore!!...

1.544v ...after vdroop :eek: you are frying the pants off that chip
0.85V – 1.5V specified for that chip
65nm the max you want to be pushing 24/7 is about 1.45v ...1.5v at the very max!!!

surly you can drop some voltage off that & still hold your OC..

what temps are you getting full load....?
:)

Hi Skunksmash,

I have it set at 1.6v in the bios but it doesn't want to go any higher than 1.544v and when I set it higher it turns the temp setting red, so I think that it's telling no more but the reason I have that High is because I was experiencing crashes during game play on cod4 before I set it to that. My temp on idle is about 28-32 and about 45-50 on full load and my GPU is on about 50-60 on full load.

those temps don't seem too bad ...but that is serious voltage!!
if i were you i would drop it to 3ghz & pull the vcore down slightly
the loss of 200mhz would be minimal performance wise
but the extra power to hold that 200mhz stable is pretty big

my own chip sails past 3ghz with only a slight bump over 1.3v
but to hold 3.2ghz i have to push 1.485v in the bios :)

It might be a good idea I don't really notice much difference from having it at a multiplier of 7 instead of 8 which give me 2.81Ghz at 1.5v

lol... you seriously need to drop your vcore down... waaaaaay down. If you can't hold a decent OC with less than 1.4 volts (much less) with that core, then that core was just not meant to OC.

A lot of how well you do is pure luck of the draw; sometimes we get lucky, sometimes we don't.

+1 to what Fumz said.

I'd see whatever your Highest stalbe OC is at with settings at 1.4v and stay there. anything higher your loosing life span. unless your Wanting to fry it so you can upgrade. then go for 1.6 and enjoy it While it lasts. but thats not recommended.

:) I have my Quad at 3.5 GHz runs at 1.384v

I have decided that all your advice is good and thought it was very high, however I have already decided to upgrade as soon as I can afford to so in the mean time I am going to fry the pants off this mother. ;)

Its all good fun, anyway could anybody tell me a good CPU to Overclock when I decide to upgrade I thinking maybe a E8400 or E8500 I have heard that some people have had the clocks above 4Ghz.

P.S. This CPU is going to be the upgrade for my partners computer, she only has a 3Ghz Intel Celeron 346. LOL :D

LOL :D

lol....... well as long as your partner is not as ''gun ho'' with voltage as you have been the 8400 would be fine :D jk

these chips are great clockers!! 4ghz is the standard for most ....i have seen one cooled by LN2 @ 6.7ghz :eek:

don't bother with the 8500 ...the 8400 will do those speeds with ease ...
if budget is an issue the XEON E3110 is worth a look this is the server version of the 8400
personally im not too fond of 45nm chips ...i myself am quite ''gun ho'' & these chips leave little room for error :)

1.6 volts kills Conroes.

Don't be fooled by what cpuid says. If you've set 1.6 volts in the bios, it's getting close to 1.6 volts. Cpuid shows fewer volts because after 1.5 volts its reporting becomes inaccurate. If you keep doing what you're doing, giving the cpu to someone else isn't doing them any favors. What benefit is a chip that's been abused to such a degree that it could, and just might, fail at any time?

You do know that past a certain point, more voltage actually reduces a Conroe's ability to OC? That's probably why your results are so poor? Yours is the lowest Conroe OC I've ever seen. My brother in law has an Allendale E4200 clocked higher than yours, 3.6GHz, and he's doing it on 1.35 volts. Those 6400's normally do ~3.5GHz-3.6GHz in the 1.3-1.4 range.

Perhaps instead of cranking as much voltage as you possibly can into the core thinking these chips will react the same way AMD chips used to, you could read up some and find out what you're doing? Cause right now, it seems like you're taking the "more voltage willy-nilly" approach... and it's doing you no favors either.

I tried at default voltage but I could not even get it post until I cranked it up to 1.45v and even then it was not stable until about the 1.5v range, but I did turn it down a little, back to 1.55v.

I can get it stable at stock voltage at 7 times multiplier, 1600FSB, 400Mhz bus @ 2.8Ghz, but it doesn't fell as good when your not overclocking to the limit.

Before I had the ASUS motherboard I could only overclock up to about 2.4Ghz that was on a Gigabyte 965P-DS3 rev3, so it seems that the motherboard can make a big difference also!
