Yes, that's true although I know the quad 45nm chips have had specific problems with sensors being faulty and readings way out of whack, or simply giving one temp and never moving. I haven't bothered finding out if there is a similar issue with the dual cores since I don't have one.
I have one core that's consistently above the other 3 in temperatures by 6-7 degrees, could simply be a faulty sensor, or maybe it's not connected to the thermal spreader as well as the other cores. But it's never gone out of whack, and the temps are perfectly acceptable so I don't really worry. All 4 cores aren't going to have identical readings to begin with.
