PC problem inc customer rights

Hey Guys an Gals
we bought the kids an ACER M1640 desktop PC which runs vista home premium for their Xmas last year from a large retail store and still holds a valid garantee !! we also took out an extra policy from the Tech-Guys as kids being kids can get up to allsorts
it all started with the PC freezing and shutting down, we went though all the probable causes incl DIAG-CD and found HDerror !!! which was then replaced .....
then was asked if we had created a recovery CD which the PC didn't prompt us to do at first boot .... then later on after diag problems and Re-write C-drive the system still didn't prompt us to do so as i believe its done through Empowering Technology Prog on PC.....??? are we wrong ??
So now our Hard drive has been replaced .... weheyyy .. wait .. we dont have an OS-CD to install on new hard drive ... even if we did do a recovery CD i am at the understanding that these supposed discs that we didn't create wouldn't do us any good on a blank HD with no OS ???
we were told an OS system CD namely Vista home premium would be sent directly to us from VISTA themselves 3 month have now passed and we get passed from pillar to post as to when this CD will arrive and told its on back order :mad::mad:
Surely.... i mean..... SURELY ....... Windows create these discs by the dozen ? and i know Win7 has been released but C'mon its not asif they dont support Vista anymore ????
the shop say they cant do anything about it ????
Vista themselves dont listen or try to help us when we call ???
and the tech guys say they have ordered it and can do no more also ???
so it now leaves us with a couple of month old piece of JUNK !!!:sa:

Any suggestions would be really helpfull peeps
Barry

Hello Barry,

The problem is that since you have a OEM copy of Vista, it is handled by your computer's manufacturer Acer and not Microsoft. However, since you have the extra policy with the "Tech-Guys" at the retail store, they should be able to get Vista loaded for you until you get you replacement OEM Vista Recovery discs to use to reinstall Vista with if need be in the future.

i kinda thought that dude and contacted ACER directly and tried to explain the situation we are in :D
unfortunately the call centre was not in the uk :( and although i could understand what they were telling me .... i dont think they could understand me
i tried and tried to explain it was an OS cd i was needing they/he kept telling me that a recovery disc wouldn't work .... DUH and told me to go out and buy one
so i ended the call
i've been waiting 6wk's now and still no further forward with a nice PC with no OS
basically a piece of junk at the moment
should i take the whole thing in and dump it on their desk and tell them to sort it out or sit and wait hoping that our kids can get last Xmas presie sorted for this Xmas ??

Barry
not sure what else to do as i'v tried to complain and still my piece of junk sits unplugged

If it has not been to long, you might take it back to the retailer for an exchange or refund.
