Password not working to get into my computer

I have a guest side with no password and my admin side with password. i know for a fact that my password is not working anymore and i can not get into my side, im going crazy. i have googled and can only find programs to download, im really nervous and do not trust them. I have no money to take it to geeks squad. i have tried in safe mode, nothing. can someone please help me?? I would really appreciate it!

Hello Gingin, and welcome to Vista Forums.

You can always reinstall Vista to fix this if you do not have anything that you care to keep. Otherwise you can use METHOD THREE in the tutorial below to reset the password.

Thank you for responding. I have put it on a cd but for some reason my computer will not boot it. Could it be because of the cd? its a cd-r that i used. I have tried doing esc, f8, f11,f12, f2. None of those do anything with the cd.

Try booting into the BIOS (should tell you what F key to be tapping at startup briefly to do so) and double check to make sure that you have the CD/DVD drive is listed first in the boot order, then the hard drive that Vista is installed on. It may not be set this way.

It was not in that order. So i fixed it and i still can not get the cd to boot. its making the noise like its going to then does not. i guess i have no other option other than try save up 30 bucks for geek squad. ugh. thanks anyways for your help

Did you burn (extracted) the download ISO to the CD using a program like ImgBurn, and not just saved the ISO to the CD?

Yea i used NTI cd & dvd maker that came with my computer. it said successful and when i put in the disk it says it is on the cd

You may have a bad burn. I never had a problem using ImgBurn. You might try burning the image with it to see how it works for you instead.

okay i got another cd and tried again. I put in this new cd and now when my computer starts up it says " preparing to start your computer, this may take a few minutes. Please wait....." along with some copyright stuff. I waited a hour and still no change in my computer , only way to get away from that is crl+alt+del and it just shuts down my computer and takes me back to please wait. Website for this program says nothing about this happening. I have clue what i am doing or whats going on So i should probably just stop before i screw up my whole computer. Sorry i wasted your time and thanks for helping me. take care-
