Pahncrd's Oblivion Enhanced Edition

Enough guys and gals. This thread was originally for Rome:Total war :D In the end i found two mods for it, Rome: Total Realism and Amozon:Total War and im well pleased with the results. In total both were about 400mb which is excellent.

But in all seriousness i agree with Elena that a note should have been posted by Pahncrd to say it was not his mods but just a collection of other peoples work however the first post by Elena should have been written clearer and more politely to get this point across. But anyway where can the mods be downloaded individually so i dont have to download 12 gigs?.

You can find all and more here The Elder Scrolls Nexus - Oblivion mods and community

If you are stumped for what to download check out the Nexus Top 100 here The Elder Scrolls Nexus - Oblivion mods and community

If you are still not sure, you can find mod lists of what works together by doing a search here Bethesda Game Studios Forums -> Oblivion Mods

Here in particular are many mod lists http://www.bethsoft.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1001112&hl=

Hope that helps.

Tell me about it and half of em don't work well together unless alot of time is spent sorting it out. Can't believe how many times ive tried mods , some of em need so much work you'd think it was a total conversion

The mods themselves although not created by me , have been made to work together with this enhanced edition so a big thanks to all the modification creators.

I have also stated on many occasions that the mod creators were the ones to thank and not myself. But I guess you only see what you want to eh?

This collection was originally just going to be something I gave to a few of my friends in order to get them to try Oblivion. Otherwise they would have never have played it. However, I was urged to actually let other people at it, and it has turned out to be one of the biggest hassles that I have ever had to deal with.

I have never received a cease and desist order from Bethesda, though I would respect it if I did. Chances are that this collection has done nothing but boost sales for Oblivion, considering the game is from 2006, it really need something fresh to get fresh people to play it again. Most people don't want to deal with all of the bologna involved with getting all of these complex mods to work together, and vanilla oblivion wasn't interesting to many.

As far as the DLC is concerned, that is a technical problem that is currently being worked on, and will be corrected before the next beta. I urge anyone that downloads it to simply delete any dlc that isn't owned. Hell, if it is someones goal to steal, they would just steal it anyway. Also, by the time a final hits, I will have cataloged every single credit. Some may not like it, but a collection is exactly what oblivion needed, as most were simply very frustrated by not being able to get the mods they wanted to work together.

Trust me, if I had known what a pain in the arse this was going to be, I wouldn't have released it to the public. However, now that it is out there, I might as well get it working correctly, make it 100% legal and give proper credit.

This was never done out of a desire of recognition, but rather I just wanted more people to try one of my favorite games of all time in the way that it really was meant to be.

My Computer

I didn't steal anything. I never once eluded to creating any of the mods. Not even once!

As far as the dlc is concerned, it is up to the player to decide whether they are thieves or not. I own all of the DLC myself.

Downloading the mods individually would defeat the purpose somewhat. ;) Though you are welcome to hit the Oblivion nexus and put together all of the mods you want.

I just signed up to say thanks to Pahncrd directly for compiling all this crazyness into one easy-to-install package. For the record, one of the first things I noticed in the readme was the disclaimer with props to all the original mod creators.

I own the original Oblivion, but hadn't played in a few years. When it was released on Steam, I picked up the 'whole enchalada' deal with all the DLC and expansion materials, only to find out later that many of the best mods do *not* work with the Steam version :(

This huge mod pack lets me play the complete content suite (which I paid for), along with all the best and latest community mods - I can have my cake and eat it too.

Thanks Pahncrd - this is a great community compilation, even if you've had to bundle some copyrighted material in to make it work for people. For those who want to outright steal the game, there are far easier ways than downloading 13 Gigs.

Thanks, and you would have probably never played it again, but I am hoping this pack brings the game back into the limelight so that people can see what an amazing game it is when the flaws are worked out and the graphics are updated to 2009.

The goal of course is to eliminate the dlc. It is just hard to keep everything from conflicting if the dlc isn't included in the first place and is added later.

If it is already included when I get everything ready and then removed, it isn't as big of a deal.

The intent of this is and always was to put some light on this game again.

Pahncrd's Oblivion Enhanced Edition - BETA 4

This is an Oblivion version with a set of painstakingly selected modifications, tweaks and changes to provide the most interesting and fun Oblivion experience possible. I have spent countless hours working on the flow, pace and balance of the game. The mods themselves although not created by me , have been made to work together with this enhanced edition so a big thanks to all the modification creators. The modders deserve every ounce of credit for their hard work.

This is a complete modification of all parts, but nothing cheesy or unbalanced. In fact, the difficulty curve should be steeper and more enjoyable. There is no aspect of the game that has not been improved or fixed from vanilla Oblivion. This will give a chance for people to play it, that never wanted to spend the days needed to properly set up an Enhanced Oblivion Installation.

This is a legit release and will not work unless you have Oblivion, Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine. It absolutely requires all three.

Rough list of whats included

[newsquote]
- more hand placed items,
- no leveling monsters
- 100% replaced textures and parallax maps, much improved and makes the game look like a 2009 game for sure,
- new and interesting quests with full voice acting (and it is pretty damned good),
- hundreds of new and interesting weapons and armors
- many many new creatures to play with
- new kick ass fighting system with shield bash, kicks, decapitations (and other such gore), and new and very cool dodging system.
- Completely revamped and improved leveling system
- New replacement landscapes to make the more boring areas of cyrodil much more beautiful and interesting.
- different and attractive character models and clothing/armor to match
- martial arts to replace the shabby hand to hand system
- revamped ui that works much better on a pc then the old version
- improved lighting and darkness system that makes the nights and dungeons much creepier and interesting, and that makes light sources an absolute necessity.
- changes to the npcs to make them more unique and interesting with more interesting people traveling the roads, like traveling merchants and what not
- improved sneaking and theft version, along with non psychic guards
- changes to sizes of races to more differentiate their statures to make the differences cooler and more interesting
- a completely new and very deep crafting system
- changed and enhanced economy
- and seriously many many more possibilities[/newsquote]

BETA 4 INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS

Beta_04 should be the easiest to install yet.

1 - Install Oblivion
2 - Install Shivering Isles
3 - Install Knights of the Nine
4 - Apply the ShiveringIsles_v1.2.0416English patch
5 - Install Beta_04 using the beta_04final.msi file pointing it to your Oblivion directory
6 - Run the Oblivion launcher, set your video settings and exit the launcher (note that the .exe is not cracked to keep things legit, so you will need the disc)
7 - Run Oblivion Mod Manager
8 - Deactivate and reactivate the DarnifiedUI OMOD picking the option that you want which will put the correct fonts section in your oblivion.ini
9 - Make sure that everything on the left is ticked and that both RAEVWD OMODs are not activated (don't activate them unless your machine is insane or you enjoy low fps, but the option is there just in case)
10 - Close the Oblivion Mod Manager
11 - Run Oblivion Enhanced Edition by using the Oblivion EE Beta_04 shortcuts on either your desktop or in your start menu.
