i really don't know what to do anymore!
in the beginning, i thought its Intel's "diskeepr" fult, so i formated my hard drive, and didn't installing it.
then, i tried to install "Need For Speed: Carbon", and the Directx made it all wrong.
again - formating.
afterwards, i tried to install Counter Strike, and the same thing happend!
i thought i just can't play games anymore, but it wasn't it!
one of windows updates made it happen also!!!

The problem is "APPCRASH".

in can't install, uninstall, or open almost any program in my PC.
im using Vista 32.
i can't even play windows games.
plz help me with it because its driving me crazy. :(

My Computer

hmm sounds like a weird problem...im really not an expert with this just an intermediate...so i would suggest doing a complete clean system reboot

My Computer

Alright my Recommendation is that if you truely don't have anything important installed on your computer..make a recovery disc...reinsert windows vista cd to where you can boot from a cd and erase your harddrive...once this is done reinstall vista on your completely empty harddrive...this should work if not keep posted

My Computer

oh, i already tried it.
of course, i formated partitation C and not the whole hard drive..
:\

i know that APPCRASH problem is very comment, but how the hell can i deal with it?
the thing is that i'v enever had big problems with W vista..
sense the probelms began, they don't stop.

Hi Warhead,

The APPCRASH is usually associated to incompatibility with a program you are trying to install or run. Try using Compatiblity Mode with the games you are trying to install or run. Have them set as Windows XP (SP2) . This tutorial will show you how.

How to Use Compatibilty Mode in Vista

Do not install any other Direct X as a test at first. Vista uses Direct X 10. If it still does not work, check the program's website to see of there is a update for it.

I can't help it, but it rather sounds like an hw issue. Is it a new machine or an older - proven one? Post your specs and driver versions pls.

My Computer

yes its a new machine.
the older didn't do those problems, and i used the same version of windows.
that's why its driving me crazy.. :\

CPU: Intel Core 2 Dou CPU E6550
Memmory: 1024
Mother Board: Intel P-35
Graphics: GForce FX-8600 512MB

how could i know the driver versions?

Brink:
I don't think its an incompatibility problem, because windows update once made this problem.
it doesn't make any sense..
i tried to do what you said, and it didn't work :\
and the problem happens almost with every program i open, not something specific..
office outlook, even windows games doesn't work..
hope you still have some ideas.

i will try to format again..
hopefully.. i won't have any serious problems..

oh and it may be important, since few dyas ago, an error shows up every time i login windows.
"run32.dll" crashes or something like that. :\

My Computer

If that comp was assembled by OEM, try reseting your BIOS to it's defaults, they sometimes tend to play with incorrect values :)

If it's p35, than you have to install Intel chipset configuration utility. It's located on the driver CD, or better, download latest ver. from intel web.

For nVidia, latest officials are 163.69, i use them, no problem at all.

To be sure, just install these 2 and audio driver, again latest ver. from web.
I don't know the vendor of your board, so just go it's site and look up your particular mobo version and download latest audio driver version from there.

Try to run one of those games or other software which is giving you this headache. If it still exhibits the problem, than i bet your hw is a bit out of specs, or more probably, it has some incopatibilities.

And really try Prime95 in blend mode. If there is a problem with your system, mainly chipset and RAM, it will tell you :) But it has to be run a few hours to be sure, if it doesn't crash on you sooner that is.

Pls, post your particular mobo version along with vendor of RAM, maybe there is something specific i can dig on the net :)

My Computer

Warhead,

I would agree with MaraST78, it does sound more like a hardware or driver issue. Try what he suggested and post back the results.

OK, i tried to reset BIOS it it's defalts, but it didn't help.
I installed NVIDIA driver from their site, and used the cd i got for installing the chipset. im having a hard time finding the driver in the web.
the audio driver was also in the chipset cd.

i just installed Prime95 but i don't really know how to use it.
i hope that giving ou the results won't be a problem.

and what is a mobo version? the vendor of RAM?
how do i check it?

My Computer

"Mobo" is abbreviation for motherboard. If possible, i need to know who manufactured the motherboard. E.g. Asus,Abit,Gigabyte etc. and the particular version eg. Gigabyte P35-DS3 etc. Same goes for RAM, what manufacturer and type exactly is it. There are many companies, like Corsair, OCZ, Transcend, Samsung etc. and type eg. DDR2 800Mhz, cl5 etc.

There is utility which can tell you that exactly - cpuz, link here: http://www.cpuid.com/download/cpu-z-141.zip

In prime95, just go to options -> torture test.. Blend mode should be the default setting, leave it as it is and run the test. If it runs without any errors for let's say 12 hours, RAM and chipset is fine.

If your hardware is ok, than we'll try to figure out what can be wrong :)

My Computer

thanks again man, you're really helpfull.
well.. here's waht cpuz says:
first.
seceond.
third.
forth.
fifth.
i didn't know what to tell you exactly, so i guess taking screen shots would be the best.
anyway, just to show you the problem..
here it is.

Prime95 is still working, so i'll give it some more time and then i'll tell you exactly what it says.

and i was just thinking about something that may be the reason for the problem, but im not sure.
im using vista x32 because the x64 version does not have hebrew language pack. any chance that the problem is here??
i doubt it because i used x64 cpu in my old computer and it worked great.

My Computer

You are using the same motherboard as me :) But, with the oldest BIOS.
I found that your CPU is officially supported on this board from BIOS ver 246, you are using the very first version, which is 216, latest is 293. There are also all drivers for this board listed. So be sure to download them too.
Upgdate BIOS and Drivers from Intel site here: Intel® Desktop Board DP35DP Overview There more ways of BIOS installation available to download, I would recommend the self-installing exe, it's being run from within the OS and does everything automatically. I used it too, it's flawless. It may just be that simlpe incomaptibility with mobo ver. and CPU you are using. All your specs are fine (FSB, voltages...)

Let me know how it goes :)

PS. If Prime is still running with no errors and it's more than those 12 hours, than the system is fine.
