o/s won't boot

Hello.

I've got a problem with my p.c in the fact that it wont boot up. I think i have unintentionally downloaded a virus which more than likey would have caused this.
I have Windows vista home basic 32 bit pre-installed on my p.c and it didn't come with any back up/recovery disks.
Any solutions on how to get my p.c up and running?

do you have a laptop/notebook or desktop? if desktop, do you have more than one HDD? first thing is check in bios if your boot disk has changed. are you getting any error messages, such as OS Not Found? are you getting any blue screens? please reply with any error messages and / or blue screen codes you may be receiving. also, system specification would be very helpful.

Right, just googled "safe mode" (i think that says alot about my knowledge of computers). yes, my desktop boots up and i get access the safe mode.

is there a recovery disk i can download and boot via dvd drive or do I need to find the root off the problem first?

in safe mode do this............ How to perform a clean boot procedure to determine whether background programs are interfering with a game or a program that you currently use then see if it boots into windows (scroll down to "how to perform a clean boot procedure")
