No Windows 7 In 2009?

"The guessing game is on again. Microsoft is tight lipped about the Windows 7 release schedule which is the main reason why so many different Windows 7 release dates are floating around on the Internet. Depending on the website that you visit you find release dates for Windows 7 that range from the second quarter of 2009 to the fourth quarter of 2010. That’s more than 18 months of difference." -Windows 7 news

Thanks for the Heads-Up!! Lordbob~

I have been aware of Windows 7 progress and or lack thereof. This puts the Icing

on the Cake. IMO. However, the WEB is full of misleading Info, so, I wait, and wait.

I don't mess around with Beta anything. Been there, done that. Don't care for it.

I'm very Pleased with VISTA, actually, though IMO again, I think it was ahead of

it's time. That and PC Peripheral Manufacturers, did not write Drivers for their stuff.

Forcing folks to Buy new Stuff, at times, depending on where your at in the PC

Knowledge game. Take Creative Labs for example, they purposely did not write

Vista drivers for their Sound cards, so we had to buy a new Vista ready card,

though they certainly could have. If fact an Individual, did so Himself so he could

use his perfectly GOOD sound Card on Vista. Creative Labs threatened to sue him,

and that was that. No Vista drivers for cards that could have worked just fine had

they wrote them. Simple Scam to get folks to BUY new hardware, nothing more.

Sad, but true.

Anyhow Good read.

As far as Creative sound cards the old Audigy series "did see" Vista drivers available while Vista was still in the RC stages seeing those in beta form until Vista's release on 1/31/07. The first was the 12/06/06 dated driver set for Vista.

In fact the autoupdater when later seeing a newer model on a new build at the time saw Vista drivers automatically downloaded and installed on XP! That was the July 2007 update found in the XP section until Creative corrected something on their support there.

The product availability chart lists the older models along with the X-Fi series at their support site lists the following seen at Creative Worldwide Support

WOW, Night Hawk~

I haven't followed the whole Creative Labs thing in a long time, Thanks!!

Gee now I could install my Audigy Sound Blaster 5.1 EAX Gamer Edition sound card,

though Honestly my on-board Realtek works Awesome!! What about Turtle Beach

cards? Same thing there? I have one of those as well, and a box of older

Sound Cards. For folks that I run into and work on their PC. Some still run

some old hardware, whoa!! Lots of folks just use there machines to email and stuff,

nothing demanding GFX wise, etc. and are perfectly happy with it.

Myself I have to have a Good GFX card for Gaming, and a nice CPU, RAM etc.

Again Thanks for the Heads up!!

The 12/06/2006 driver set seen at the time was actually the first finished driver set available for Vista preparing for it's release at the time. I used those for the RC1 then over any beta drivers. Some older models of course being too old were omitted as you will see there.

If you look now you'll easily find beta drivers for 7. Surprizingly Creative is usually ahead of the game over NVidia and ATI both for being the first seeing drivers available for an upcoming new version. At seeing those I wouldn't see why 7 won't be seeing a 2009 time frame if not early 2010.

A look at the 7 availability chart should also be encouraging since that list goes back to the Audigy 2 series there. Creative Worldwide Support

Night Hawk~

Well so much for using my Audigy card with Win 7.? Does Creative support Vista 64

bit as well or merely 32 bit? I should just go look. Myself ;)

Though as earlier stated my Realtek ROX. Azalia Codec. 2.1 to 7.1.

Also as far as Win 7 goes I'll wait until Service Pack 1 is release before I Bite.

Thanks for the help, I kicked you a Rep point. :) and Lordbob.

Sound is heard on 64bit 7 beta here. The only thing lacking is the application side for sound mixer, volume control, and speaker settings for both 32bit and 64bit as far as 7 is concerned at the moment. That's simply due to the next version still being in development.

For 7 here I simply downloaded the Vista 64bit updates for both rather then only the beta sound drivers without application. Creative Worldwide Support

The sight of beta drivers for 7 shows Creative is upto something knowing that 7 will out soon as long as there aren't any more delays like seen with a few inbetween the 7000 and 7022 builds not upto expectations. We wouildn't want another Lohn Horn II situation for sure.

Following the MS delevelopers blogs and not getting wound up by so called articles is the best way to get an idea of how far along they are. The annoucements made by Microsoft directly are the reliable answers over the 3rd party hype to fill blog space.

I don't Bite until the fat Lagy Sings!! Night Hawk!!

When it's here and and SP1, I'll be interested, (WIN7) funny I used to own

a Night Hawk Motorcycle, Kick A$$ Bike, BTW!! Loved it. I think I'll be sticking to on

board sound in the future as well, it's come a Long, Long way. I recall the Daze it

Really sucked, but today it's as Good or better than any Audigy SC. IMO.

Case in point, The abit NF7-S v2 MoBo's had Sound Storm, sound on board, it was

the first I had heard that really sounded Great!!

I never believe anything from the WEB, all that much. It's all about click counts today, the WWW, when it first started up, I could print out every web address known. Yeah, that's right, I know I did it, took about a reem of paper LOL!! But back in the day, you could do this. Now days, it's so saturated with BS, it's pathetic, IMHO. The whole thing is about Money as is with everything in the U.S.

Write a Blog/Newsgroup Message, whatever, get paid by the sponsor , be it Intel, AMD, Nvidia ATI, or whatever. The site that comes to mind that is probably one of the absolute worst is "The Inquierer" OMG!! Those guys will type anything and puke it up on the WEB, what's worse is folks actually buy into it, Copy and paste anything they say that supports their views. Uder Rubbish. .ORG used to mean, probably a safe bet that it's fairly legit, no more. Where is the Webmaster and what's he/she do? Or they or what the F%ck?? Over. Asleep at the wheel is what.
But then it's so MASSIVE today, nobody or thing can Monitor it. When I Was a kid National Geographic was my only souse for Porn, WOW has that ever changed, OMG!! Lol.

I got the article from Microsoft, so I don't know. It makes sense to me, but I'm not a developer.

Hey on Creative Sound cards, mine won't work with Vista. I put it in, and installed drivers and it would work, but the software would say it was not detecting the Hardware... And Seven doesn't like my ASUS P5QC drivers, so I can't get my 5.1 sound to work right...

I'll bet the expiration of the beta is really close to the date we are looking at for the release of Windows 7. They will make us do without for a month so we can all save our money and buy in September. haha I'll be there buying it too.

Hi guys
If you click the Windows 7 button and browse those forums you can see all sorts of speculation about Windows 7 release dates.

Actually some people are using a Pre RC1 build already (build 7057) which has the same expiry date as VISTA SP2 release candidate which some people might have tried. (Mar 1 2010). -- the "public beta" build 7000 had an expiry date of Aug 1 2009.

Build 7048 (better IMO even though it's earlier) also had an expiry date of Mar 1 2010.

Use command winver to check expiry date.

If you use "unofficial builds" then you can't guarantee the system will perform anything like the final. Often stuff is released to catch errors for specific drivers or adds a whole load of debugging and diagnostic info -- specifically to address certain problems and can even be written for a specific manufacturer or a set of devices.

Build 7057 takes LONGER to install from the install disk on BETTER hardware than cheaper and less powerful hardware -- wheras build 7048 is very snappy -- obviously a pre RC1 test version that got out into the wild.

However you can find out all about this stuff by clicking on the Windows 7 button.

Rumours abound as well that the "Official" rather than the small nova versions of the RC1 will be made to the public on or around 10 Apr ( only about 3 weeks off).

If the RC is that near then unless the devlopers have found an almighty snag or they are moving at "glacial speed" then it's a good bet to expect W7 to hit the stores late in Q3 -- back to school time / pre xmas.

Cheers

That article is utter rubbish, Windows 7 will hit RTM some time between July and Sept 09

Z~

It probably will if you look in the device manager under sound, video, and game controllers and see any yellow marked item there. Sometimes you have to remove, reboot, try again, reboot, remove, reboot to finally see Windows detect it and prompt for drivers. Vista drivers are used for sound on 7 here with an X-Fi model.

The Ignored! That's the most repugnant tabloid crap on the web! Anyone with any degree of common sense knows that's nothing but total fabrications from fantasy land there.
