No! Not AGAIN!

Hi,
When i start up my vista has problems loading things and can pause. Yet sometimes it lets you log on, but when you log after 20 seconds it can freeze(but the arrow moves around the screen). I can get on safe mode perfectly(I am using now). This is the second time it happened, and the 1st time i had to format, and i am not willing to do that again.
If you have any questions for more details please ask.
Thanks, Lee

Hi Lee,

Since you are not having any problems when you startup in Safe Mode, then it this usually indicates either a bad driver or startup program.

DRIVERS:
Just double check that you have the latest versions of your drivers and BIOS installed.

STARTUP PROGRAMS:
I would disable the startup programs one by one and restart the computer until you find the one causing the problem. Start with the ones that you think could be the problem. You can enable them back when they are eliminated as not being the problem. OPTION TWO Method One is the easiest way in this tutorial for how to do this.

Lee,

Was there anything that you installed or changed before this happened?

You can try seeing if a System Restore using a restore point dated before the problem started will resolve the problem.

http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/76905-system-restore-how.html

If that does not help, then while you are in Safe Mode, create a new Administrator account to see if you can boot into that one instead. If you can, then delete the old account from within the new one. While doing this, be sure to select "Keep Files" to save a copy of your old account's user folder contents to a folder on your new account's desktop.

Lee,

I do not know what else to do other than a clean reinstall from your recovery partition since you do have a Vista installation DVD.

Did you check for overheating issues? Have you changed any of the memory settings in the BIOS? It would not hurt to run the Memory Diagnostics Tool to help rule out RAM memory problems.

hmmm ... another case of preloaded vista being full of problems

get the OEM over preloaded

Sorry ... that doesnt really help

Download a pirate version of vista (wait hear me out) then just use your genuine key on the install

you do legally own a copy of vista, so its just a method of backing up vista disc (which they deny you on preloaded machines)

yes ... hi, my name is Rellik and i dislike brandname preloaded computers
