New here and already stuck with ultimate x64

Hi guys,

I'm new on here from the UK Ok here's my problem....

Since my system picked up a "virus". I booted back up in safe mode and deleted all the files manually and used a program called "your uninstaller" to clean up the registry as windows uninstaller kept getting stuck on a .dll file.

ok this is what i've done so far:

1) updating the driver (no update available)
2) uninstall the driver and reboot.
3) pull my hair out

It just won't play dvd's or let me see any data on them, they appear blank even though i know they arent (after checking them on another machine). But it will play cd's fine.

Very confusing... Please help :D

Hi there thanks for the response, for some reason i cannot D/L the tool to create a log? And the D/L link for the codec pack doesn't seem to be active lol....

I just clicked the link skunksmash posted and I got an option to "Run or Save" the codec.
So I believe the link is good.

Ah ok i have it now.... flashget wasn't picking it up as it should! I have also done a system restore and again nothing. I tested my system again with my vista ultimate dvd and the movie 3 kings (not a copy) and they take their time but they load up. The vista dvd was a lot quicker than the movie, though.

Check your upper and lower filters...

I had a look at this and cannot get the "exact" reg entries that i need to remove as that is for XP? Sorry if i'm a little slow getting to grips with this

They should be the same as XP in Vista I believe...

Here is Vista specific though ~ The CD drive or the DVD drive does not work as expected on a computer that you upgraded to Windows Vista

Thanks again for the replies. Ok i have followed those instruction and the upper filter and lower filter are not there. If i try and open the sub directory which is "properties" i am given an access denied message, although i'm not 100% sure i suspect this is probably correct.

I have also tried the codec pack and they did not work. I'm running out of things to do lol!

Might be time for a new drive. Still don't know what drive you have or the firmware version.
