The monitor just displays the "no signal" message. when the PC is turned off .
I have looked long and hard for an answer , Anyone else have an issue with this ?
I have a 3 year old 19 in Sony Flat screen .
I just reinstalled the OS from the 64 bit to the 32 bit and had the same problem with both .
I've Goggled this and had no luck finding an answer .
Thanks John

check your monitor settings. is there a setting in the monitor itself about power saving or auto shut off? or maybe the computer is not sending a signal correctly.

I'm Sure it is not getting the signal . The only other thing that has changed since it worked right is The upgrade to vista and new video card . The GTX GForce 260 GPU
that is where i should be looking next .

The Monitor has the usual on / off switch . As for Vista Ultimate under Power Options .
There are 3 Options .
Balanced. Offers full performance when you need it and saves power during periods of inactivity.
Power saver. Saves power by reducing system performance. This plan can help mobile PC users get the most from a single battery charge.
High performance. Maximizes system performance and responsiveness. Mobile PC users might notice that their battery doesn't last as long when using this plan.
There are more options that refer to laptops and saving batteries . I have Goggled this and found others with the same issue but no fix's . I wouldn't be surprised if we have the same video card in common . I have Two Monitors , The 19 in Sony & A 40 in Sony Flat screen TV and have tried switching the cables with little luck . John

I think so too and am checking EVGA Fourms . As for the 3 Power Settings , They are very basic and the same with a timer for the Monitor , Hard Drive .
The 19 in Sony Flat Screen is only 3 years old . It has a lot of options but no kind of off switch except the basic kind .
I also have the Nvidia Control Panel , System Monitor and Performance , All That with no Options for Power Settings or any way to check about the ( "no signal" message ) That i get . Thanks for your time . John

I think so Yeah . Windows update , I have a Nvidia update that recommends drivers . Also Driver Genius and a PC test @ PC Pitstop all four said to use the
185.85 Driver Date 3/27/2009 Driver Version 7.15.11.8250
There is one other Driver I tried that works with Windows 7 and Vista , But I had no DeskTop after the install . I wound not be surprised if the Bios has never been updated unless that happened during the Vista Install . I am unsure of what method to use for updating that and not to mention Sacred .

Windows update installed it . Nvidia Control panel and Driver Genius all recommended this driver except Pc Pitstop recommended the newest driver that works with Vista and windows 7 . I tried that one and after it installed i didn't have a desktop , Vista will not let you do stuff like change your resolution in safe mode so i Had to remove it in safe mode . Call me old fashioned or set in my ways or what ever but i have never had or seen a desktop that did not power down a monitor when you shut it off .
Thanks for your time . John

Thank You . I do get my drivers from Nvidia but i don't have the knowledge or confidence to update my Bios . Could you explain this to me using a flash drive ?
I do have a couple of monitor CD'S that i have never used since i normally use the 64 bit OS . John

Really they have made it that easy now . In the past i would have to download the Bios from Asus along with Asus update and another program to flash it it , if i remember correctly . What scares me is i have so much money in this and none to replace the board if i screw up .
I still don't have a clue as where to begin , I haven't seen an option yet except in Nvidia Control Panel . Is this what your talking about ? thanks John

I"m looking at the Asus Mother Board Site . You may choose "ASUS Navigation Wizard" or "General Download" to obtain product BIOS, drivers, utilities and user manuals. I followed the prompts from General download 1 .Select Product . I choose Mother Board 2 . Select series socket 939 3 . Select Model A8NSLI deluxe . Select Operating System Vista 32 bit .
32 files found BIOS (14) [BIOS History 14 OPTIONS
And then i have to choose the correct flash tool as well
BIOS-Utilities (6) THE FIRST OPTION , ASUS Update V7.06.02 Install Program for Windows 2000/XP/2003 & 64bit Windows XP/2003.
AFTER THE PROMPTS I GET INFO FOR XP AND 64 BIT OS ?
THIS IS EXACTLY WHY I AM UNCOMFORTABLE FLASHING MY BIOS

What happens if you disconnect the monitor from your computer and then switch it on? Does this No Signal message appear and stay there until you switch the monitor off?
