Modify Shutdown Options Menu ??

Just like in Windows ME, when I go to the shutdown menu, I get a default option of "Sleep". That's probably the very last thing I'd ever want to do, but usually when I go there I want to "Restart".
I use a desktop shortcut for a complete system shut down.

How can I change that default, from "Sleep" to "Restart".

I know, I know, this is NOT a critical problem, but so far I'm having little or few problems with Vista, that I can't figure out.
So far, I've got it running almost as good as XP.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello The Shadow,

If you mean the Start Menu Power button, then you can only select it to either Sleep, Hibernate (not for Classic), or Shut down. Restart is not an option.

Other than a Restart shortcut, you can also click on the shutdown arrow menu and click Restart from there instead.

I guess I did not phrase my question properly.
I'm still trying to get used to this forum.

When I go thru the normal shutdown route, I get the default "Sleep".
I'd like to change that in the registry, so that when I get to that point, I don't have to scroll down to what I'm looking for. I'd like it to come up as "Restart" instead of "Sleep".
If that doesn't clarify it, then I guess I'll have to take my question elsewhere.

Ahem! Did you even notice that in all those examples, "Restart" is never shown or mentioned as an Option?

Maybe it's not even an option on some computers, with some versions of Vista.

I would take everything out of that context menu except "Restart" and/or "Shutdown", if I could just find it.
Again my question, "Where the heck is that context menu", in the Registry or some .dll?

The Shadow,

None of the options in that Shut Down Windows box can be removed. You can only have it default to open with either Shutdown or Sleep by changing the Power buttons and lid setting for the Start menu power button option I told you about in the link below.

As far as I know, you cannot change it to open with Restart in Vista. That's why I said unfortunately.
