Hi,
I'm running vista home premium on a hp slimline. I have the latest Realtek hi-def audio driver installed, but still my volume is sadly low! Anyone know how I can fix this? All help appreciated.

I had too many problems with the realcrap drivers, lol.. I had to reformat my pc once because I was so upset with the audio sounding too loud.

My problem is probably unrealted but I ended up using Microsoft's universal audio drivers. Problem is solved.

If the audio source is [5.1] I have to put my volume all the way up just to hear the soft things and the really loud things are god awful loud, like bombs.

Usually there is an option to Normalize Volume that will fix that

When you installed the Reltek driver did you run the .exe program twice?

Please remind me which driver we're talking about here? I don't remember running it twice?

OK, On the top of this forum section is a link to the latest Realtek Driver.

It is a bit different than other drivers I have installed.

It has an .exe program that will run 1st to remove your current driver, you will then be asked to restart your computer.

Then you need to re run the .exe to install the new driver and do another restart.

Should be sweet after that.

Ok, did what you said. It all seemed to go through just fine. Ran the exe. twice as instructed. Volume is no louder than before.. :/

OK, At least we know the driver is installed correctly. Now we will have to look at other causes of your problem. I will need to do a bit of research to see if others have your problem. I am on 9 forums so will ask on those to see what others recommend doing.
