Latest version of Adobe Flash Player

I just set up a 64-bit Vista Ultimate virtual machine, and Adobe Flash Player installs just fine, but only works on the 32-bit IE and not the 64-bit IE.

Only in 64-bit Windows 7, does Adobe Flash Player work in both the 32-bit IE and 64-bit IE when installed.

Hope this helps to clear things up.

Okay. Well, I'm stumped.

I'll try uninstalls and reinstalls again, later.

I'm still mystified as to why Adobe's site says Vista 64 is not supported and I'm having this issue suddenly.

Guess i'm doing something wrong. Thanks guys.

Well, I got it working.

Solution: Turn off Adobe Update service, under...

Control Panel >> Administrative Tools >> Services >> Adobe Flash Player Update Service - set to "disable"

My problem was after uninstalling, reinstalling, rebooting and trying out IE and Chrome, I could get it working for a few minutes, and then suddenly Flash pages would stop working altogether, saying I needed to update my Flash player.

It occurred to me that if it worked for a few minutes and then suddenly did not, there must be some background or hidden service telling Flash Player not to work on purpose, and lo and behold, 'tis true.

The Updater service turns off Flash Player 11 on Vista 64 for no particularly good reason. Once I disabled that, I've been all good. Maybe that is part of the reason why Adobe's Flash download page lists that Vista 64 is no longer supported? I dunno.

I donno, I'm not having problems with Flash 11 in Firefox or IE.... BTW, the stand alone 64-bit installers for flash player will install on Vista, and I am using the 64 bt versions of flash...

I hope the image is not to big....

Oh, and that is a 64-bit version of IE running in my screen shot. I have no problems with video, and no I haven't done anything to my system outside running the standalone installers.

brink, since trying to find the standalone flash installers has become such a pain, and I know in the past flash has asked me if I wanna update, can I let it sit and wait for the prompt?

I'm just not real wacky about a downloader, yunno? cause the one time I did an adobe flash update via downloader off the adobe site, I went to remove the downloader app, and it gutted both the firefox and internet explorer flash installations, I spent three days tracking the individual standalone installers down.

Sorry to be such a 'numpty'............ but what is the difference betwen the 2 download options: WHQL and WHQL Standlaone

and if you choose option 2 why is there an exe and msi version whats the difference- sorry all this is new to me, I would appreciate a brief explantion for my learning process! Cheers

Valid question.

They both end in the same result, but the first one is just a program that starts the install, then downloads the required files.

The second stand alone, is the entire program. This is for you to d/l it once then you can put it on a disk and install it on computers that are not on the internet, or ifd you have lots of computers, saves d/ling the files multiple times.

ya... I'm gonna let it trip an update alert, I just realized, besides 32 bit mozilla firefox.. I've got 32 and 64 bit internet explorer.. and I'm not sure which of the two internet explorers yahoo messenger uses... soo.. rather than screw with it and create a problem..
