to put the processor side of things into context. my father mainly uses his laptop for internet email watching some movies and streaming movies. no heavy tasks. this is what he has right now
PassMark - Intel Celeron M 540 @ 1.86GHz - Price performance comparison
and these are what hes thinking of moving to
PassMark - Intel Pentium 967 @ 1.30GHz - Price performance comparison
PassMark - Intel Pentium B970 @ 2.30GHz - Price performance comparison
PassMark - Intel Core i3-2330M @ 2.20GHz - Price performance comparison
these are all in laptops he is considering obviously there are other deciding factors price value for money HDD size RAM HDMI inc Win7 or Win8 battery life etc etc
but from what i can see even the lowest benchmarked cpu (over double his current cpu bench) would be a marked improvement for him performance wise probably more than he could use or appreciate in terms of processing power.
