I have a Maxtor 6 B300R0 USB Device, an old ide drive that turns up as an invalid dynamic disk and doesn't show up on my computer. How can I reactivate it w/o losing data?

So is this an IDE in a USB shell? was it a dynamic disk? have you tried plugging it into another comp?

Hello Han,

You might see if connecting the drive directly to your motherboad instead of through the USB case may allow Vista to see it in Computer.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

I've tried connecting it directly to the motherboard and computer management does not detect the drive at all. The Drive in question is a Maxtor 6 B300RD, it's my understanding that Maxtor is now Seagate. Anyhow, I can't find any drivers for it.

I'd pop it out of its enclosure and try to connect it internally.
