ieframe.dll bad image issue

I often get a error with the ieframe.dll and saying it is a bad image when trying to start up all different types of programs. It usually says the .exe program I am trying to use then bad image then describes it as this. example: (control.exe - Bad Image C:\Windows\system32\ieframe.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support)
Also ever since this problem has started to occur I am also having trouble installing other programs and an error always pops up saying windows has stopped working.
Is there any solution to this error or the steps I should go about to fix this problem.

Hello, first thing I would do , would be to run my antivirus program , and then run free program of Malwarebytes Antimalware, once sure i was clean I would see if that solved the issue, If not, i would run the SFC Program .

Both options did not work for me and the program Malware did not find any errors while the sfc scan now said it did find some corrupt files but could not fix them. I tried to open the cbs.log also but my access was denied and it said in the command prompt that I was not able to access. I have all settings for security set so I have full access but still this file seems to be getting around that. Any solutions? Could I possibly get a good and working ieframe.dll from another computer and just switch out the files?

How many files do you have, that was pretty quick for an Antivirus and a full scan of Malwarebytes ? Anyways, did you see step 2 in that Tutorial ?

I did both the anti virus scan and the Malwarebytes scan before posting to this forum as that usually solves any problems I have but it showed no threats or problems with my system even though this error keeps coming up. I did see step 2 in the tutorial and I do have a ieframe.dll file from another computer that is working fine but it is running windows 7 compared to mine which is running windows vista. Do I need to find a ieframe.dll for windows vista or are they even different and will this solve my problem or are there other things I can do.

One thing that is recommended is to run the SFC scan a total of 4 or 5 times, as sometimes it will not repair all it finds on just one scan, run the sfc program 3 or 4 more times and see if it gets it this time around.

Sounds good I will try that but I have been at this problem for awhile and prior to posting and probably have already ran the scan over 5 times and everytime the error does not get fixed.

Then type this in that window, press enter afterwards : findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log >%userprofile%\Desktop\sfcdetails.txt Then Click on the sfcdetails.txt file that was just placed on your desktop to see the SFC scan details If you open that up in notepad or such, scroll to bottom of that and how many files were not repaired ?

I tried that and the sfcdetails.txt file did display on my desktop but when I opened it there is nothing in there as in no text at all. I also ran the process sfc /verifonly and it did say that windows resource protection found integrity violations which I'm sure is a problem.

Go to Start button, in the search pane , type this , or c and p this. : sfcdetails.txt then right click that and open it and see how many there were .

Ok the text came up now and it says that it could not repair the dxtmsft.dll, ieframe.dll, Opcservices.dll, system.drawing.dll, and settings.ini files

also says that is could not reproject corrupted file for all these files

K, not too bad, but, not perfect, 5 files,and you , from what i gather have no disk to retrieve good copies of those files ? Do you have a friend with the same bit OS Vista as you are using ? Maybe you could pull those files off of it ?

As of now I do not have someone I know with the same bit OS Vista but I will look and try to find someone. Just to make clear I can't use a different bit OS or windows 7 files to replace mine? Would simply replacing these files solve my problems? If I can't find anyone, any sites that offer these files and are safe to use?

Well, i wonder a thought at you, How long have you had this issue, and what are the chances you have a restore point to use before this started ?

The issue started I believe a month ago so I might have a restore point previous to that. How do I check the dates of restores and if so perform a restore?

I checked my system restore dates and none of them are old enough to when the problem wasn't occuring so no luck on that.

Well, then the choice's are , find friend with Vista ( same bit ) disk to use or order yourself one from your computer manufacture or order from Microsoft , or as last resort, go to factory default image using your recovery program , if you have one .

Okay thanks for the help and the options. At least now I know what the problem is and how to solve it. Does going to the factory default image using the recovery program completely wipe my hard drive clean thus losing all my personal files?
