HP Scanner Will Not Scan: Workaround Solution - Universal Scanner Help
Hoping to save someone some stress and a hair-pull-out experience. Perhaps this can help someone else.
More in the usual place below under "My System Specs" but the relevant info:
Vista 32-bit Home Premium
Scanner HP Officejet 5610 All-In-One (Ink Jet Printer).
[But this should help with many other scanners.]
Got the messages,"No HP Device Detected" & "No Computer Connection Detected" & "No Scan Options." -- all at various stages of trying to figure this out. Even though my computer would still print and copy BUT:
It would not scan until I found this workaround (this after many clean uninstalls/reinstalls & going through various solution attempts Some from the HP company itself):
Re: "No device detected and "no computer connection (everything was connected and the digital imaging monitor icon was present, etc.)". Could not bring up the IP address of my product for the reasons above since the directions per HP required a detected computer connection. Though I did discover while following that step that the Pml Driver HPZ12 referred to in solution 3 on the page linked right below was not listed in the task manager:
'No HP devices have been detected' Message Displays on the Computer in Windows XP When Opening HP Solution Center for a Network-Connected All-in-One
Link:
'No HP devices have been detected' Message Displays on the Computer in Windows XP When Opening HP Solution Center for a Network-Connected All-in-One - HP Customer Care (United States - English)
The workaround I located and used:
"Can't get scan to work. Printer states "no scan options".
Followed advice in manual best I could, no luck. Need some help
here.
SOLUTION:
If you have windows vista and it comes up with the "no scan options" don't press the button on the printer, go to "start" then "accessories" then "paint". This will open up the windows paint program. Go to "File" then click on "From scanner or printer". It will then scan the document, no more problems! Happy scanning."
