Solved Hi all newbie here please be kind (deleteing D drive!!)

Hi all i've been looking for a way to extend the space on my C drive and came across this forum and after reading some posts i thought great i can delete D drive and put the 52gb in to C drive but then came across this.
Which is what i have in my disk management!

I went through the initial steps of this tutorial and found that the first volume listed in Computer Management is a "Disk 0" or perhaps Disk capital-oh O.

Its status displays as Simple Basic Healthy (EISA Configuration)

What is this thing? The overall readout for the computer's harddrive?

Do I need to be worried about it if I want to delete the D: partition?


It's a 120GB harddrive, with 51.14GB on C: and 50.89 on D:, yet 9.76GB on this mysterious Disk 0.

I'd like to merge all three into one C:.

After reading some replies it seems you can't merge all three!
What i want to know is can i just delete D and put it in to C without touching the 0 drive????

Hello Pete, and welcome to Vista Forums.

This sounds like the D: and the EISA partition are your OEM Vista factory restore partitions. It would not be recommended to delete these partitions if you ever wanted to be able reinstall Vista.

If you really wanted to delete them, then you should create a set of OEM recovery discs from your computer so that you can use these instead to reinstall Vista with.

What brand is your computer? I'll post back with instructions on how to do this from your computer manufacturer's website.

After creating this, you would need to delete the EISA partition twice before it becomes unallocated space in Disk Management.
