I will just have to make a slipstream disc now. Never made one before but it doesn't sound too hard.

I am in the process of making the disc. I do have a question though. You seem to be very much of an expert on computers. Could there be anyway that it is some sort of hardware issue? I have done a memtest which worked out good. If so, what would your first instinct be after the memory?

Hi Ingeborgdot,

I think it is most likely a software issue.

We'll find out when you have done the repair install.

Hope it helps

I have been working since 6 am this morning and it is now after 11pm and I can't get my slipstream to go. The computer is so slow right now that it is not working correctly. I got it set and was to the point where it said it would take 60-120 minutes. When I came back 8 hours later because I went to a game it was not even half done. Does anyone know where I can find a disc already made. It would have been faster to put in the os and then download the updates. I really wanted to do it this way.
Anyone?:confused::cry:

I started it again last night at 11:30 and now at 9:30 this morning it is only half way across. I tried to build one on my other computer but since it is xp it won't let it happen. Does anyone know where I can find a slipstreamed download? Something?

I have got to be the stupidest person around. I don't know what happened now. I did the repair but now in the lower right hand corner it says my vista is not genuine. I know for a fact it is genuine. I know what genuine is. I didn't buy oem, I bought retail full version. I got it from a chain called the microsoft employee store at a microsoft store. My sister in law actually gave it to me as a gift and she is a big wig for MS.

So what do I do now??

Hi,

Open the System window by pressing the Windows and pause/break keys together.

Wait a few seconds. When you see Change product key option in blue at bottom left, click it and type your product key in.

Then see if it activates.

Otherwise,

It activates fine. It says activated. I also go into microsoft genuine and it says it is genuine. The problem is that the thing at the bottom right won't quit saying it is not genuine.

I’m not really sure how to help you with the whole “not genuine” issue, but:

I know this might sound like a really dumb suggestion, considering even the most basic of computer user thinks to do this at some point, and my apologies if this is so, but have you checked for driver updates on any of your components recently? Or even updated/tinkered around with some before this started happening? I had a problem a few years back similar to this with XP, and one of them being out of date was the culprit. Installed the one that was lagging, and everything went fine from there.

Also, have you tried generating a system health report yet? If not: Control Panel > Performance Information and Tests > Advanced Tools > Generate System Health Report. This nifty little tool turns up a LOT of useful information, and will even help to pinpoint errors and hardware issues and make suggestions on how you can try fixing any that turn up…

Hope this helped you some!

Well, I figured something was goofy because it said it was activated etc. I figured I would go in and install all the MS updates and when I got half done it went away. Scared me for awhile but now it is all ok. Machine rocks again.
