Solved Help with startup menu

I just open the Start menu and press the Ctrl+Alt+PrtScn key. Next, I open up Paint (mspaint.exe) and press Ctrl+V, then save the image somewhere to upload later.

What a bummer! It doesn't work anymore. I pressed Ctrl+V and nothing appears. Do I need to refresh the screen or something? Also, the Ctrl+Alt+PrtScn key does not print anything. I tried it with a regular open window and still no avail.

To clarify further...

Ctrl+PrtScn will print screen the active window and anything visible around it... basically anything you see on your screen

whereas, Alt+PrtScn will print screen only the active Window.

All I have to do is hit "PrtScr" to send the whole screen to the clipboard!

Bennys, sometimes if you can't Print Screen something, you have to hit your F Lock key. then you can print screen again.

In addition to Krugers suggestion, make sure that the Paint window is active by clicking on it first. Afterwards, press the Ctrl+V.

(after you print it you have to move it to "Paint")

Thank you for being patient but where can I find the F Lock key? I found the second function lock simbol under F6 but can not locate F Lock.

"Start Menu", "All Programs", "Accessories", "Paint".

Click to open "Paint", upper left hand corner click "Edit" in the
menu that opens click "Paste".

That should give you the image you have saved to the "Clip Board".

Thanks again but I think I going to give up. I tried the method you recommeded above and it works. However, that is not what I want to view. I just need to know why I can't save the screen using various methods recommended in this thread besides using Snipping Tool.

Hello bennys.

You can use "Paint" to save things without the "Snipping Tool", you'll just have to
play around with it to figure out on your own how it all works.

Using the "Snipping Tool" is just the way I learned to deal with "Paint"!
I hope you can get it all sorted.

I know it's off topic but I already asked in the general forum with no success. I thought you would help me out. I click on the Document botton on the start menu and nothing happens. What's wrong? Please help me.
Here is what my start menu looks like:

Documents(I click on it once) nothing appears.

Hi Bennys,

It sounds like your Documents folder may not have the correct location set for it. Double check with Option Two in this tutorial to make sure that the Documents (Personal in registry) folder as the default location %USERPROFILE%\Documents .

Hello Brink !
I'm back to the drawing board but with a little twist to the original subject.
Everything in the registry editor is in place as I followed the link you have provided above. However, I was just figuring out how the registry works (which is a stupid thing to do) and now on the Start Menu, the Personal User Folders: Music, Pictures, had disappeared. I think by accident, I deleted them. How can I create new ones and add them to the Start Menu? I already know how to create them in the registry. Please Help.

Make sure that they have the correct default path in the registry, then restarting the computer (maybe a few time) should restore them. If after that it does not restore them, then use the Shell commands to see if that will open them.
