Solved Help with startup menu

On my start menu, I click on the Document and nothing happens. How can I open it?
Please help.

Is it a folder you are trying to open or a shortcut? Were on the start menu are you trying to open this document?

Are you single clicking or double clicking?

Hey...Brink!
I know it's off topic but I already asked in the general forum with no success. I thought you would help me out. I click on the Document botton on the start menu and nothing happens. What's wrong? Please help me.

Hi Bennys,

It sounds like your Documents folder may not have the correct location set for it. Double check with Option Two in this tutorial to make sure that the Documents (Personal in registry) folder as the default location %USERPROFILE%\Documents .

I tried option 2 but there is nothing in the right pane. It is a completely different screen than the one shown. On the left panel, there are a bunch of programs that only a computer programmer could understand. There are no Microsoft stuff in it especially HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders.

Bennys, you're in the wrong place here. You need to click the small [+] buttons next to the labels on the left to expand them to the correct location.

Start by expanding the "HK_CURRENT_USER" section, then expand the "Software" section, then "Microsoft", etc, according to this path:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders.

Eventually, the 'Shell Folders' part will show. Click ONCE on the "Shell Folders" section. A list of entries should appear on the right side of the screen. If you can take a screenshot of that list and post it on here, that would be helpful.

How do you make a screenshot of the start menu? Everytime I open the snipping tool, it closes up.

I just open the Start menu and press the Ctrl+Alt+PrtScn key. Next, I open up Paint (mspaint.exe) and press Ctrl+V, then save the image somewhere to upload later.

Thank you...but where is the PrtScn and what does it stand for? I can not find it on the keyboard.

It is short for Print Screen. typcally you will find it just above the Home Key and to the right of your F12 key.

A small clarification...Ctrl+Alt+PrtScn will take a snapshot of the active window only, so make sure that what you want a screenshot of is the upper most active window when using this feature.

BTW, I like Betty White too...never was much of a Rue McClanahan fan though

Ctrl+PrtScn will print screen the active window and anything visible around it... basically anything you see on your screen

whereas, Alt+PrtScn will print screen only the active Window.
