Help with Error 652

Windows is telling me there is a new update to be installed. Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 SP1. I try to download and install it but it gives me error 652 or something like that. Can anyone please help me with resolving this issue? Thanks in advance.

    Don't know, this is a new computer, I just bought it on October 1st. It says Windows Vista Home Edition when it starts. Not sure if it's 32 or 64 bit. How do I check this?

Welcome to the forums.

'652 or something like that' is no help. Please post the entire error message. You could also try a google search on the error number (652 shows nothing).

To check 32/64 bit go to control panel/system. Should tell you there.

It's 32 bit and it says "Error 652" Windows encountered an unknown error

It doesn't give me any more information about this. I've tried to update this about 20 times, even turned off my firewall and virus protection, but it still won't update. I am running Windows Vista Home Basic I believe it says when the machine is booting. It's a Dell Inspiron 520S if that helps at all?
