Help Pls!! Have internet connnection BUT can't access internet

Hi,

My internet was working fine until this morning on my desktop. Now i can't access the internet thru IE9. I have internet thru my wifi on my laptop and Ipad but not on my desktop. It's giving me the Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage now. I tried to restore it to a couple days ago, but still no luck. I tried to plug my cable directly into the modem to see if it's the router but I can't access the internet still when directly plugged in. Please help!!! Thnx Btw, i can't sign onto AIM too, so it's not just the browser not working

Hi Tom,

I have no access to internet on my desktop. Should i save on flashdrive then run it on my desktop? What does this batch file do? Thanks!

Yes, that would work fine. This batch file resets all of the settings associated with your internet connection and resets your hosts file. It just fixes all of the usual problems associated with these sort of problems :) If you want to examine the code, then it's here:

Code:
@Echo on
pushd\windows\system32\drivers\etc
attrib -h -s -r hosts
echo 127.0.0.1 localhost>HOSTS
attrib +r +h +s hosts
popd
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /flushdns
netsh winsock reset all
netsh int ip reset all
echo
cls
cls
echo Script complete. System will now shut down. Close or save any open files before continuing.
pause
shutdown -r -t 1
del %0

If you don't feel comfortable running this batch file without knowing what it does, I can explain each line to you if you want

Tom

Okay, those ipconfig lines are fine.

Let's see if it's a driver problem then

To do this I will need to know a little more about your system specs. Could you please fill them out:

http://www.vistax64.com/profile.php?do=extra

If you don't know any of them, then use Speccy to find them out:

Speccy - System Information - Free Download

Tom

Hi Tom,

Ran it and filled out the specs form. I checked the network tab and under WinInet Info is states "An internal error occurred".

I'll need to ask someone else for help on this one, firstly because I'm starting to think that it may be malware and I'm not allowed to help with malware removal, and secondly because I have no other ideas :( I'm sure he'll be with you in no time at all

Tom

Its possible that the cause of the problem is malware or even a virus or worse
Make a full anti virus scan and then download the free malwarebytes and make a full scan. Lets see how that goes.

Make a full anti virus scan and then download the free malwarebytes and make a full scan. Lets see how that goes.

I have Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and Super Anti-virus and did full scans but both didn't pick up anything. Only tracking cookies and adware and I removed all infected files.

I have no idea. I tried plugging the cable directly into modem and not thru router and my desktop still can not get online. Seems like something on my desktop is preventing internet access. I'm just stumped now.
