Help pls!! Desktop icons are missing

Hello all, Please could anyone help me, im really not technical minded,so please bear with me. I have Windows Vista Home Premium Edition, on a brand new Dell inspiron 1525 Laptop. When i start up the laptop, all that loads is my desktop background and the windows sidebar. When i click on the 'show desktop' icon all it does is show and hide the windows sidebar!!!! Where are all my desktop icons???? I have tried going into the registry but dnt know enough to fiddle, have searched internet forums and tried many solutions in the quicklaunch folder by copying the desktop icon, but NOTHING has changed NOTHING!! Please can anyone help me ta

Hello VXN, and welcome to Vista Forums.

Double check with OPTION THREE in the tutorial below to see if the Desktop folder is set with it's default location.
