Help computer does not recognize DVD/CD Drive!!

Hello all I could use your help with my friends computer. My friend has Vista Basic 32 bit Dell Desktop.

Okay she has two CD/DVD drives. The one came with the computer did not burn DVD/Cd's so she ordered another one from the company that does burn CD/DVD'S. It is her second drive we put in the computer. Well now her second drive now does not work. We tried to go into device manager to see if it appears there and I think it just shows the drive that came with the computer. I wanted to be able to see if we could download drivers, however it said, it was up to date.

This is what it read when we hit the plus sign.

Device manager PBOS CDRW DVD-DH-48C25S-ATA Device

Any help would be great.

Thanks:D

Go to the website of the DVD drive, update from there.
The built in Device Manager update, rarely installs the most current, regardless of what it says.
If you are up to date, unistall, boot and then install, again.

OK
Lets try this.
Make a system restore point, in case of problems.
Uninstall the driver
Boot the computer
Now install via the device manager.
Boot the computer
Does it work better now?

Okay on Device manager I see another problem and I am wondering if this has to do with the missing CD/DVD Rom. The display adapter ATI Technologies has a Yellow Explanation sign in front of it. Here is what it says,

Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available.

I do not think that the problems are related, but the dispaly problem should be corrected, too.
See if you can update that driver, too.

Well this is what I had to do was change the cable and put it into a different port and now it works. Yea!!!

However the explanation mark is still on the display adapter ATI Technologies
