Re: [CzGMR] HD5870 Hawx & Vantage EX Bench

they ran Hawx in DX10.1 because they knew this would trip up the 280 , and the other............is a synthetic benchmark ;) ;)

5870X2 is a TDP nightmare

We’ve learned that the current TDP for X2 is 376W and that the company is working on this issue, as apparently they will have to slow down the GPUs down by quite a lot to get rid of the heat.

Re: [CzGMR] HD5870 Hawx & Vantage EX Bench

but thats ATI's latest hardware vs NVidias old tech , NVidias new cards are coming out soon

plus the only real advantage is with Hawx which they deliberately ran in DX10.1 because they knew for a fact that it would trip un the NV card

the 295 is not that old...... and even then the 4890 which was made to compete with the 295 did what it was supposed to and out preforms it..... the 5870 just blows nivida out of the water :D

How many times do I have to explain what a 295 actually is to you? :zip:

There's still quite a few games where the 295 beats the 5870 i.e. COD 5 and Crysis Warhead, so I wouldn't say the 5870 "blows" nvidia out the water.

The HAWK benchmark I'm going to disregard as what Archie said is right.

For an AMD card, the benchmarks are impressive and with each new generation of card AMD release, they do have big improvements, but I wouldn't start blowing AMD's horn until we see 5000 vs GT300 series cards benchmarked.

Nvidia confident that GT300 wins over 5870

Several people confirm

Nvidia is still not revealing any details about its chip that we still call GT300 but one thing is getting quite certain. A few people who saw just leaked performance data on ATI's soon to launch Radeon HD 5870 have told Fudzilla that they are absolutely confident that GT300 will win over Radeon HD 5870.

Since GT300 has its GX2 brother they should not fear much against Radeon 5870 X2 whenever that comes out, as if Nvidia wins a single chip battle, they can win the dual one as well.

We can only confirm that GT300 is not a GT200 in 40nm with DirectX 11 support. It’s a brand new chip that was designed almost entirely from the ground up. Industry sources believe that this is the biggest change since G80 was launched and that you can expect such level of innovation and change.

The launch as far as we know is still slated for late November and hasn’t been confirmed
