gsm 6.1 audio codec on vista

Hi,

I have big problem with ventrilo 2.1.4 on Windows Vista.
This system haven't a Microsoft GSM 6.1 audio codec.
Ventrilo need this codec for sound output.

Please help me

Hi, Micro, and welcome to the Forums.

You might try installing the Vista Codec package - see http://www.vistax64.com/sound-audio/152850-vista-codec-pack-32bit-64bit-media-player-codecs.html for more details.

Note: If you're on x64, you still need to install the 32bit package *first* and then install the 64bit extensions package *Second*.

I did a search here in our forums, and found 2 posts:

http://www.vistax64.com/vista-games/75686-ventrilo-my-microphone.html - the last post basically says disable UAC, but *I* say run Ventrilo as administrator instead.

Yes, but I have ventrillo in 2.1.4 version... This program need Microsoft GSM 6.1 Codec ;P

According to that it is used for Internet Telephony, etc.

It should have been installed with Ventrilo - obviously if it needs the codec to run it, then it should come with it.

It's imposible, because Ventrilo server's need 2.1.4 version of Ventrilo.

Then you'll probably have to contact that particular Ventrilo server's maintainer and figure out a work around...
