Folders empty after virus attack!!

I had the same problem where all my folders show that they are empty, but the files are still in them. I solved it by right-clicking on the folder, going to properties, and unchecking the hidden attribute. Unfortunately you have to do this for all the files.

I transferred all folders to an external hard-drive, opened them on another machine running Windows xp, And all files intact... I created a new folder under xp. Tyen transferd those files to a memory stick, Took it back to my original machine, Files can now be seen....In summary, I have retrieved all lost Music, Pics, And everything else lost in those folders... I am not considering this a fix, Just a work around to a very serious issue, And my hope is others will be able to save their precious data also...Thank You to all have helped me here...!!! Could not have done it without you!!!

Windows recovery desktop/start menu showing empty.
1) try this:
Run http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/grinler/unhide.exe

2) For any File Assciation Issues concerning this infection(s).

Windows Repair hides all files on the system, you can restore them one by one, or I found this command you can enter in the command prompt to fix it./Click> Start Menu/Select "RUN"(Or All Programs> Accessories >& then RUN-) & type in the box >cmd,
In the Command Ptompt you can copy and paste this command( attrib.exe -h c:\*.* /s /d )

and let it return the attributes:>

attrib.exe -h c:\*.* /s /d << This is for if the "File .exe has been corrupted.
