I'm not sure if any forum can answer this but I'd thought I'd at least start here. If anyone knows where this should've been asked, I'd appreciate your direction. Hopefully there even is an answer but you can't get an answer if you don't ask the question.
With all the viruses, malware, etc. created today I see a lot of comments about a file being disguised as a regular windows file. Or there is misleading information saying that this windows file is really a virus and you should delete it and it turns out to really be legitimate.
My question is this: Is there a central repository or database that any end user can look at which displays and explains the different files in any operating system? I don't have the original CD/DVD because my laptop was built by the store I purchased it from (and it's not because I don't trust the store especially BB).
Some specs:
Vista HB SP2
2 GB RAM
>50% space free on the hard drive
Toshiba Satellite L305-S5919
Thanks to you if there is some place on the internet and you can direct me to it. I appreciate your time.
