Fallout 3 Keeps Crashing

Please help! I can't install fallout 3. Error code: (-5006: 0x8000ffff). I have vista 64 with all of the system requirements and more. I heard it could be a securom issue. I have a dvdrw drive with labelflash.(could be the problem?) I've tried everything from running fallout as an administrator, to copying it into a new folder. Has anyone else run into this problem? I'm not willing to use third party stuff, so any advice would be awesome!

Okay so I have the same exact problem but I cannot find the installsheild folder to rename. i even searched my entire computer for installsheild and got nothing, Help?

I would try a NO CD patch, this will eliminate the need for the DVD drive and re-install the start .exe.

You should find the install shield folder here.

For those with crashing problems go to your "Saves" folder and delete or remove all but the last 3 or 4 saves. This has worked wonders for me. The only time my game has crashed is when I had a ton of save files; clean it out and no more crashes.

Under Vista 64 the save files can be found at....C:\Users\yourname\Documents\My Games\Fallout3\Saves

Good luck
