Error Message C00D1199

So I made a big mistake.

I got a Flip Video Camera for my birthday. Woot. I could watch the videos with no problem. So I got motivated. I was trying to use the mpeg videos it produces in WMM. I downloaded a codec package, and now I can't watch the originals. I unistalled the darn package, and no change.

The error message I'm getting is C00D1199. From what I can find it's a broad error code for a variety of problems. Can anyone help me?

Hello Airlith and welcome to the forums

Try doing a system restore to before you started experiencing the problem.

If you need help doing this then let me know and I will happily provide you with the necessary information.

Thanks Tom!

I went ahead and tried a few regular restores, and kept getting an error about the restore not working properly. So I switched over to safe mode, and did a restore. The restore did work that way! Yay! I opened the previously mentioned videos and they worked in WMP. But then Norton went haywire on me. It tried to tell me that I had to subscribe for Norton service, while also telling me my subscription had 666 days left (how ironic). So I played with a few settings, and ended up accidently updating Norton, and we're all good to go!

Just being through in what I did, for anyone else who may run into a similar problem.

Any suggestions for getting WMM to make movies out of my Flip videos?

Thanks,
Airi

Thank you very much for the rep, and the kind words, I really appreciate it :)

What format are they in?

Well I installed the full version, and I still can't play the mp4 files in WMM. I also tried playing my avi files in WMM, but they still only have audio. :(

Is there perhaps a movie maker I could download, that is made for mp4 files?

That's strange. Perhaps it is a problem with WMM then, because I can do those with no problems at all.

Can you follow these steps:

1. Open the start menu
2. In the search box, type cmd
3. Right click on command prompt and select run as administrator
4. In command prompt, type:

sfc /scannow

Let that run, and repeat the process 3 times.

And is it Windows Movie Maker, or Windows Live Movie Maker?

I'm currently scanning for the first time. And it's Windows Movie Maker.

I don't have to activate that new codec pack after installation do I? I went through and double checked the the mp4 files were downloaded. It just seems weird that it didn't change anything.

No, it's completely free software. Ok let me know how the SFC scans go, if they find anything, then upload the log (follow this tutorial)

I'm going out tonight, and I shouldn't be back until about midday tommorow, so I apologise in advance for any late replies.

Ok the first scan found corrupted files, but it was unable to fix them. I tried following the tutorial you gave me, but it failed. I can't open or find the darn cbs log. This is not my day. Haha!

I forgot to mention that when I installed the codec pack that it said I had an fddshow codec already installed, I clicked unistall and it failed because it wasn't there anymore. I searched my computer for the fddshow to no avail.

*sigh* Oh to be more computer savy!

Can you retry the SFC scan in safe mode please? Run it 3 times, and then upload the log (if you can find it!)

After doing this, can you download and install this:

http://www.malwarebytes.org

Run a full scan and upload the log so I can take a look at it
