E8500 temps and question

Hi recently i just bought a new heat sink and it brought my temp down from 72C to 59C and its a pretty good heat sink but the question is do E8500s run hot not overclocked or is it just mine?

heres the heat sink i have upgraded to compaired to my stock one

also what i listed was the max temp i see, btw CPU1 keeps doing all the work i only see that one hit 59C

O yeah it has Artic silver 5 on it a good amount

Hello naturalphenomen,
When you say you put on "a good amount", how much did you put on ?, because too much is as bad as not enough, if you put too much on it acts like a barrier, so if you want to get your temps down a bit more i would remove some of the Arctic thermal paste.
Are these temps idle or under load ?.

underload and its just a razor thin coating of it u can see through it

to me it seems about normal if not good, 59C under load isnt too bad. when tests have been done its not unusual for the CPU to go up to 70-75C under load, esp for stress testing ie prime 95 etc but any higher (ie mid 80's - 90's) id worry.
You have to remember some over clockers out there are boasting that their CPU's are 20C under load, ive talked to my friends and they said they had overclocked a CPU to 7.6Ghz on a stock cooler saying that it was only 65C the whole time - when someone pulls something ridiculous like that like a rabbit out of a hat, you know that they are lying. You seem to have a decent temp now, remember to keep your case circulated

which is just metal and fan it was making me run 70-73C

If that is load temps then it's not too bad, and if it's just a small amount of thermal paste, then thats OK too.
When you said "a good amount" i had an image of it being caked on, lol.

o yeah my airflow is good i have one from the power supply a big one, and one in the heat sink, one exhaust back of the case, and one on the graphics card but now that i got that heat sink i dont have a side exhaust im thinking of adding a bottom fan cause there's a plug for it

its not caked on it got baggie and spreaded it with my finger all over the CPU then put a small dab in the middle, and its running better than before when i just put a small dab in the middle

lol i had an idea what if i attached my old fan from my old heat sink on top of my new one, so then i have a side air fan

The important thing is to have air flow, if you do that the air will just swirl around going nowhere.
You need to get air flowing through the case.

sorry for the late reply it has an exhaust fan in the back, im going to take apart my old heat sink fan and put it on the side of the motherboard so it has a side exhaust fan

Currently i am running 3 hard drives, 4 fans, and a 8800GT on a 600 PSU u think it would hurt adding a 5th fan?

the fans in back is Power supply and another one below it, that means i have 2 exhaust fans in back im thinking i should make a 3rd but on the side i have a power plug in for it

A 600W PSU will handle that OK.
As long as you have good air flow through the case you wont have any problems.
