As to your Disk Management snip in your first post, 3 of your partitions have no letter - they are hidden. That's why you cannot open them.

Go back to Disk Management and assign a drive letters (right click). Then you will see them in Computer and can double click on them to open (or right click > Open).

I think we are trying to do different things here

I tried going on Disk Management but the only options for the un-named drives are as follows:

Rich, are you trying to get me to go on my drives (C:\) and (E:\), and see when the files have been modified because I can do that with no problem. What I thought you were asking me (and indeed you still may be) is to go on the partitions themselves and see when the files were modified - which I can't do (I don't know how to).

I have 3 drives on my puter and 2 cd drives. I can access them in the way I told you.
Perhaps, partitions cannot be viewed in the same way.
Did you try the method suggested by WHS?
Did you unhide all drives?

Partition Manager
and
System Backup, not the same as the GiveAway of the Day.

WHS and I agree that the OEM is the restore partion, it can bring you back to the way you were when you brought your computer home. Since you now have Windows 7, I dont think you want to go back to Vista. In addition, when you go from Vista to Seven the OEM is often corrupted, which appears to be the case in your situation, since it is so small
On my compter I went from Vista to Seven with a clean install with an upgrade DVD.
I have Drive C (my OS), Drive D (recovery), it acutally has my Original Vista OS, which I doubt that I will use, and Z (which I sized and named) with my backup.
If you went from Vista to Seven, you should have the same. The OEM should not be necessary and your tools are probably from Vista.
Since you are set to show hidden drives, you only have free agent and C. Those partitions in C should not be a big loss if you delete
Going back to my original post, I suggested Macrium to back up in the event of problems. It is always good to have an image of your hard drive.

To be safe and conservative, you may want to wait for WHS, who will tell you how to verify with Macrium. That, of course, is up to you.

I do that a lot too This laptop actually came with XP pre-installed, so the recovery partition is even more out of date.

I WANT you to wait, take advantage of the benefits of the forum. But if it were mine, Id delete it. Cant be much in there.
The usual advice given in Seven is to delete it with the clean install.
You have the 7 DVD to reinstall.
But we will both learn about Macrium if you wait.

1. I am a little lost about those hidden partitions. Did I understand that zou assigned drive letters to them and they still did not show up in Computer - that would be strange indeed.

2. Remind me what you still need to know regarding Macrium. I kind of lost the red thread in all the posts.

No, when I right click on the drives in Disk Management, there is no option to Assign letter (it is greyed out), I can only help as shown in the screenshot.

Hmm, we have to unhide those partitions, else we cannot look at them. Try this program, the "unhide" is under the partition tab > Modify.

And what about the open questions regarding Macrium?
