Repair is suppose to just repair, but if you have important documents etc. I would back up first. Better to be safe than sorry. Some setting may, also, be changed.

My Computer

Some questions I just cannot answer, but it is of course possible that you should try 64.

If you have a Vista install DVD, yes you can. But then everything will be gone. Progams, settings etc; back up first.
If you do not have a Vista install DVD, you may want to buy an upgrade Seven DVD, for about $125.00
If you do decide be sure that your computer is ready for it. I can help with that decision if you decide to do so.

But the repair CD has a "install it option." Does that not work?

My Computer

What exactly do you have. The regular CD that installs the OS
or
A repair CD
Not the same thing
Where did you get the CD?

Yes, the upgrade portion is correct.
If Home Premium is the best one for you, only you know that. I can say that I have HP and it is the right choice for most.
Family pack, do you really want 3 license or do you need only one?

Good investment. All I can say is that it is the most current OS, and Im glad that I have it. Windows 8 will probably be out in about a year or year and a half and at that point, you can still use Seven and it will be supported with updates etc. So I think its worth it.

By "do you really need 3 licenses or do you only need one" I am assuming the more licenses you have the more computers you can install windows 7 on? thanks

My Computer

Each license is for one computer at a time. YOu can put it on different computers is you remove it from the first. If you want to use many computers at a time, then the 3 pack is probably the one for you. The rules say it must be for family in the same household or all for your use.

thanks...also this is interesting, I ve had the blue screen effect happen to me 3 times for my laptop...but each time it just restarts and work normally...is this normal? thanks

My Computer

Actually the blue screen is not the problem
The problem is that you crashed and you have the computer set to write the dump report. When it writes the report it goes to a blue screen.

I would begin with startup repair. If that does not work, Ill give you detailed instructions to fix it.
