ok I have an idea instead of taking the pc I just can take my old motherboard with me and after unplugging I can directly put it in.

but does the core 2 cpu's fit in pentium 4 sockets???

Sorry, I didn't mean to be rude.

Those are noises that are typically made when someone shorts out their system board. System building is a wonderful hobby, and everyone has to start somewhere. Upgrading RAM, swapping out your video card, or adding an HDD are great places to start. But if it is taking you 20-odd posts on an OS forum to figure out the specs for a piece of hardware that you can simply open up the case and look at (the manufacturer name and model number will be printed on your motherboard), then perhaps you might wish to leave your plans for shuffling system boards and CPUs to someone with just a bit more technical expertise and experience. I just get the feeling this may end badly for you and you'll end up with 2 fried mobos.
