Do you guys agree with me on this?

Hello,

Yes, I am only 14. However, I am useless at hardware. I know the components and the job they do, and I could build a computer with help from the internet, but so far, all I have done is change a dead hard disk. Does that count? I have not even added any more RAM, but only because we are all running on 4gb, we need no more, and none of our RAM has given up the ghost yet.

However, I do love my software. I have loved making software and games since I was 11, and my favourite language is C#. However, I am also good with C++ for when I am writing a game in DirectX. I know you can write some DirectX in C#, but C++ is better for this. The best thing that ever happened was my Dad went back to Uni to get another degree, and so I downloaded everything off Microsoft Dreamspark. Having Visual Studio 2008 Professional really tipped the balance, and I will never stop coding now!

:) Hi niemiro, I'm not necessairilly expecting to hear from you per say; but you seem so knowledgable at the Vista software & no one answered my question I figured I'd try you. Like I said when I asked the question. I'm older than dirt and have tried to figure this out for myself but, I only know the basics of computers.
I'm a full-time student :geek: pursuing an associates degree in business admin. (medical) I've got links that I have to click on to do my assgnmts; however when I click the link I get an error message saying something to the fact that, The setup converter (?) encountered a problem, check the log files. Can you tell me what is this. I know it has something to do with Office Powerpoint, viewer or something like that. But that's the extent of my knowledge. Can you help? I would appreciate it if so,
Thanks in advance, :D
Agree very strongly. Although I have never tried this, I can't see me learning much from "Vista for Dummies"!

One guess would be that you have a PP reader 2003 and that cannot read 2007 file formats. If that is the case, uninstall it and get PP reader 2007.

 I don't know if you're able but is there anyway you'd be able to IM me? I con't understand exactly what you're saying. I did tell you I"m older than dirt, didn't I? Also, I'm so illiterate when it comes to pc's that I'm afraid to do anything. I've got to have this pc to do my classwork. I'm scared I may do something and not be able to correct it. I must apologize!
I thought a PM (or whatever you'd said about if someone was expecting a response from you. LOL What they were to do) was like an IM and I tried to do that, LOL and the administrator hadn't okayed my acct. yet, so I'm not able to do that I don't want to put my IM out in public so if you're willing to IM me, and tell me how to let you know my email address, I will.:D Again, thanx in advance.

Nice. I'm 13 and i havent learned c++. Im thinking of getting a book though.
The first operating system i touched was windows 95 or was it 98? I really liked 98 and especiall y 98 SE. It was a really stable OS, too bad it cant support today's hardware.

This is where I am different. Being only 14 now, when I was young, my Dad just taught me everything he knew. Now I learn by myself, but I never needed a book to teach me the basics (except for C# and C++ when I was 11!), my schools have always had lots of computers, and the first OS I ever used was XP!

Richard

I've seen a lot of your posts and the fact that your are only 14 years old makes me feel like a NOOB!!!

lol

But nah, either that or your on that track to becoming one of Microsoft's MVP's!!..

I don't read at all. I've read less than ten books in my life (find them boring and I cannot read very fast at all). So, I have learned everything I know on computing the hard way. Tried and tested that is. But, because of this I know very little. I can't use code and I wonder what the hell HTML is about?
So, from my point of view you are limited by your own limitations of learning. So, if you need to understand the core processes you need to be able to read and understand what is being written.
So, in answer to the question = No!

To be quite honest, I really would not bother with HTML (IMO) Justy go to either Asp.Net (my favourite) or PHP (I personally hate it, but I understand far more people use it to Asp.Net and many love it) However, to learn all the programming languages I know (CS (sorry, this school keyboard does not have some special characters) and C++) I did have to read many long books.

Yeah ive been trying to get my friend to stop learning html, but he thinks its important. Not much people actually manually write down code with html (people just use wysiwyg editors and then convert it into one of the languages that browsers render), anyways even if you wanted to write down html code you dont have to learn it persay, you could actually look up the different commands and functions, memorizing html is a waste of time as technology is getting into more complex languages.
