I used to get same warnings very often, sometimes would not recover and would result in BSOD or self-shut down.
Without any technical explanation, out of desperation, I installed all the updates I had hidden and had not installed(except anything about JAVA). Then, I went to HP website for drivers/software and re-installed the Bios driver over the same file already installed years ago, then I went to recovery manager and re-installed the hardware(listed as HARDWARE...not driver or software) for the NVIDIA card.
Whether or not what I did instinctively had corrective attributes, I would not be sure. But I have been as good as new since.
(Actually these were done by a very young techie, not me)
