custom links in the right, dark area of the start menu?

apologies if this is in the wrong topic.

I noticed in several of the tutorials, such as 'how to pin a folder to the start menu' that the default start menu was shown as:

where the right side has different links than my own, I was wondering if these were custom made?

In the right side of my start menu, I have 12 links.

Hi Yuuki_Minoru,

You can just go into the Customize options for the Start menu to select from a list of available buttons (links) for the dark right side and if you want them to appear as links or menus when you click on them. This will show you how. I wish Vista would have the option to let you create your own built into it.

I'm trying to find a way to add the "Videos" folder in the black area pan.
How did you manage to add your "everyday account" inthere?

Hello Ghis, and welcome to Vista Forums.

The Videos folder is not an available option in the Customize Start Menu settings to be able to add it. As a workaround you can pin the Videos folder to the left white side of the Start Menu instead.

The "Everyday Account" was just the name of my "Personal" User folder. It will show whatever your C:\Users\(user-name) folder name there instead.

even if the reply box was saying that this thread might be dead, I decided to give a try glad I did.


Yeah, thats about the same I'm able to be doing for a while

Now I'm messing up all my folder because I don't want itunes to put its logs in the music folder. I made its own in the administrator folder but it keeps returning.

The real problem is costumizing. Windows should at least let everyone costum its PC the way they want.
Not only that. I wanna leave those windows original folder empty. This is the only way I have found (but not the best) to keep Media player from scanning the whole PC each time I want it to scan "only" one small folder.

If only there was a way to modify the source (keys, dll or any)
