Crysis Warhead Ambient Occlusion

thats strange..??? i never forced the res, it gives me the options from 640x480 to 1680x1050

:)SK

Ok, I may not be making myself understand here. Let me try again

Once you are in the game menu, you hit options, then when you are in the Graphics options, you have a chance to set the resolution, AA or go to Advance and change the other settings there but, on the Graphics options menu, there is an option to let the game choose the optimal setting for your rig... did you do this or did you manually set your options? this is what I ment by forcing the resolution on your benchmark

ok.... the benchmark is completely separate to the game, you configure the benchmark on the spot, not in game..

if you are referring to my in game settings, i never let the system select optimal settings i keep it on custom ;)

OK, so what is the benchmark for then?

I usually let the game choose the optimal setting for me since I really don't know what each of those settings really do and since I am usually looking for better fps's, I am content to play it with what it gives me. Hopefully, this will change once I get the psu installed and I can use the GPU + PPU option.

SKunksmash, I have downloaded the benchmark tool, it uncompress as an .msi file, I can't Run it as an Administrator as there is no option for it.

After double clicking on it, I start to follow the instructions and at some point it asks me if I want to allow, I do and it makes an Icon on my desktop. right clicking on it and going to properties then advance doesn't help either since the Run As Admin is greyed out.

If I double click on the icon, I get the same error I stated before... "This program needs to run as administrator to allow custom configurations files to be saved on game's config folder. The program can not continue."

After clicking OK, the benchamark tool opens but I can't even X out, I have to Task manager it out of there by force.

Can you assist? How did you installed yours?

this is what you need to do.......;)

go to the benchmark file, right click / properties / compatibility / & at the bottom of the list tick the ''run as admin'' box & then launch the app.

the benchmark just takes certain sections from warhead to run for FPS tests, its pretty good for comparing other machines & H/W

see if that solves it......

OK, I solved the problem on my own (not that I am dissing your help SS, it it just I didn't see it at the time).

Problem is/was that somehow, the desktop icon left by the installation is/was botched, what I had to do was open up Explore, go to the folder where I had installed it, right click on the executable file and send a shortcut to the desktop, after that, I was able to get it going... I am sure your way is the easier way but since I got it working, I am not going to try.

Only reason I posted my solution is in hopes to help others if they get into the same predicament I got into.

Forgot to post an image of my benchmark run but I was a little discouraged to say the least.

Did the test both on DX9 and DX10 and saw no gain, it did avg about 22 to 23 fps's and it lowered a bit when I was in a lot of different physX action (like when you get to where the fire is, fps start to drop rapidly).

I thought for sure going from an E6300 to E7200 was going to help me but I see that it didn't do much for me. I am going to try Overclocking the CPU again but I don't like the temps I get as soon as I do that.

I have thought about getting a new cooler for my cpu, or perhaps newer fans or a new case but then I think... there is not a game out there at the moment that I really want to play and I have played the others to death so... why waste your money? but I always come back to the fact that I like changing and testing stuff out... what a pickle I am in! :D
