Solved Contacts suddenly do not work

I can get to the Contacts folder.
When I double-click on a Contact file, I get the popup -

Windows cannot open this file:
File: filename.contact

Asks me to use Wed Service or select program from list of installed programs.

Neither works. MS Web Services (amazingly) does not recognize .contact. And there's is no Contact program in the list of programs (or anywhere I can find on my machine).

This worked fine a few hours ago. And not it doesn't.

Any theories / help?

Hello SFTime, and welcome to Vista Forums.

In Default Programs, double check to make sure that Windows Contacts is set as the default program with all of it's associations set to it.

Thanks for the tip.

Windows Contacts is not in the list of programs. (See attached).

Very strange. Worked fine a few hours ago. No installs since. Just did a system restore back to yesterday. Still doesn't work.

That did it!

Restored the .contact default file type association.
Double-clicking on a .contact file now opens up the contact record.

Full Disclosure - I ran Glary Utilities for the first time on this machine a few days ago. I though my Contacts worked after that, but maybe I'm wrong. That's my only theory one what could have messed with this.
